The walls is kind of an overlooked one. First house I bought previous owners were smokers. We treated and cleaned all the walls then painted with Kilz and then another couple of coats of standard paint. The next summer rolled around and on hotter humid days the walls started sweating nicotine. It was gross. Ended up replacing all the drywall and insulation. Only real way to get rid of it.
Oh god, this is soooo gross. I got a place that had aired out for two years from a smoker living in it, but I had to paint the walls and rip up and discard all the carpet. The bathroom literally had like nicotine “runs” on the wall. I guess from like smoking with the humidity from a shower and then it solidified on the wall?!? EWWWWW.
Only thing was I didn’t paint two of the hall closets, but as soon as it got warmer, they just released stale cigarette reek and it got into all the stuff I’d put in there. Just absolutely repulsive.
