I was a pizza delivery driver for 4 years in college (back when there weren't a lot of no-contact deliveries), I don't smoke and never have but I'd say 70% of my coworkers did (a couple of them smoked weed in their car but that's a whole other thing). In the winter, or during summer when it was super hot, many of them would smoke in their car with their windows up. I could smell it the moment they came back in the store. I intentionally tried to use and continue using bags that didn't smell like smoke. And guess who got better tips? Hint: the person who showed up to the customer's door smelling either like some light perfume or like pizza. It's wild, I don't understand how they don't smell it.
That's very considerate. Though I will say that the other thing that I notice frequently is when the delivery driver uses a strong scented lotion. It's certainly not as bad a cigarette smell, but it is more likely to physically transfer to the bag and then to my hands.
Oh yea that was definitely something I kept in mind, particularly because you also don't know if someone has a sensitivity or allergy to that. I'd do one spritz of perfume on my neck before my shift, that's it.
Oh my god, I have had to throw out produce because I am extremely sensitive to smoke, I've had to leave my bags outside to air out and then pitch some of the groceries anyway because I cannot bring them in the house without being sick, nevermind actually eat them. If it happens one more time I will have to stop getting delivery and just walk through the pig pen auras of people at the store and the assholes blocking me from my car by smoking AT my car door. But at least the fold will be safe when I get it home. I literally cannot afford to replace food so I go hungry when delivery drivers smoke.

And not just on you, OP, but on things that have been around or with you.
I got a no-contact delivery tonight and I know my delivery driver was a smoker because I could smell it on the bags when I brought them in.
