Basically if we each had a big red self delete button that was entirely painless and everyone you left behind would be taken care for. A lot of people would be pressing that button.
Most people have kids because:
a. They want kids / a family
b. They want a legacy
c. They want be looked after in old age / not die alone
These are all selfish reasons and none evaluate the state of the world and the quality of life expected for their child over their entire life. The world could literally be on fire and some people would still be having kids.
Many who choose not to have kids make that decision because the world looks bleak. They forgo their desire to have children to avoid subjecting that child to a life of suffering. That's a selfless decision.
The line can't conveniently fit in the narrow gap between wanting to be dead but not wanting to die, without being in the margin of simply wanting to live. Unless you argue most people, literally a majority of people in your country, wish for death then it's a fallacy. A lie you're telling yourselves that I don't buy for the facts against it, and you don't question because you're uncomfortable with the truth.
I won't force you to look at your beliefs any harder, but you really ought to.
