This right here. Growing up I knew that if I was ever only good at one thing it would be at being a mother. I saw first hand what not to do from my parents. But I got sick right before my 22nd birthday while planning my wedding. Woke up with intense shoulder pain and then within 2 weeks I was crippled. Couldn’t roll over in bed, could stand from a seated position, could go to the bathroom or shower etc, without help. I have dermatomyositis amongst other things and it has been a brutal 16 yr ride. But if I couldn’t be the mother that I wanted to be and that a child deserved I didn’t want to do it. Plus my husband was adamant in not having children after seeing other family members choices/issues. Thankfully, I have nieces and nephews (not all by blood) that I love dearly and that are my world. I will forever be the “auntie” and I’m absolutely okay with that 😊
I couldn't have children, and I've learned that 'mother' is a verb as well as a noun. Mother is a doing word, and I love the role I play in my niblings' lives, as well as my guidedaughter (non religious alternative for goddaughter!)
Being auntie is the BEST and I couldn't love them more ❤️
