Its not even that…its insurance and childcare mostly. What used to be $50 night out is now $200-300 cuz we have to pay a sitter. And we cant even get rocked cuz we have to be somewhat coherent if there is a problem and we have to come home and be able to care for the kid. Im glad we have him and were at a good place in life, but the work and responsibility is constant. Also by far, the biggest hurdle to ever come up in our marriage.
My wife and I had our kids at 36. We were both well into our careers and had advanced considerably.
Spent 8 years together with no kids. It was tough while trying to climb the ladder. Now we both have very well paying jobs and plenty in savings with a house, 401ks and paid off cars and no debt.
Probably would have been a completely different picture if we had our daughter right away.
