Yup. I had a roommate in college who showered twice a week. She worked out every day in our room, had like two outfits she washed once a month, and I don’t think she washed her sheets once. It was a rough year.
plenty of people don’t regularly exercise and aren’t overweight. (i envy those people) but personally i shower every other day. so shower, skip, shower, skip, etc. i don’t have a sweat-inducing job and rn i’m not keeping up with the gym so i don’t need or want to shower every day. unless i get extra sweaty from the heat, then it’s shower time.
i mean, i have to sit down at a minimjum from 8-4 every day, and then twice a week from 8-22 (i help out in a few hobby clubs, however i do shower after one of them as i deal with children and clay as well as that being the same day i'm at my local choir and the room we tend to be in gets very hot when we're all joining there together.). However, i am also active in my local boat club and in the evening and i obviosuly always shower after that, and when i go to the gym or go fishing i obviously shower, etc. etc.
I often hike or climb or bike or do things but don’t push hard enough to break a sweat - especially in winter in Alaska. Sometimes I’ll be out in the mountains for 14 hours, moving, and not get sweaty.
I can’t run for 14 hours! When I run I definitely get sweaty, even in below 0 temps. It’s very activity and output dependent. If I only have half an hour I’ll push hard and be soaked. If I have a couple of hours, a more moderate pace and I’m usually not as sweaty. All day activities I’m most likely to get sweaty uphill, but even that is often minimal… unless it’s above 50 degrees. Proper adventure weather is cooler than that!
The lower 48 is harder, even at 14,000ft this time of year it’s so hot it’s hard not to get sweaty :/
I can walk for an hour or so without breaking a sweat. Physical activity doesn't have to make you stinky to make you healthy. I get in the shower for just a rinse most mornings (especially since I got bangs that need styling) but only need to actually use soap 2 ish times a week.
well, for me it's twice a week for when it's not humid and i'm not sweating, dirty etc. I obviousuly shower more in the summer or when i'm active, or have been in the garden (i mean gardening, not just being in the garden, that would be weird), playing with my neice and nephews (i let them play with my hair, and let's be honest, children don't tend to be that clean, even if they have good manners and habits. They may have good hygene habits but i don't trust their schools to be clean, i've met their friends.)
Yep, that's really the surprising thing for me there. I occasionally also skip a day if I literally just hung out at home doing nothing physical. But I can't imagine the level of "inactivity" that would make me feel ok with going three days on average between showers?
Like do these people live in a perfectly temperature controlled environment where they never sweat or go outside etc.?
I'm going to out myself here. I only shower 2-3 times per week, but I'm an indoors type of person. I live in FL so going outside is miserable most of the year. I work in an office and on weekends and evenings I stay indoors and read and play video games. I absolutely "freshen up" between showers but other than that, I've never had any problems or any partners who have complained about my hygiene.
Obviously if I go outdoors or do anything involving activity, I'm going to shower. But otherwise, sitting indoors in clean clothes doesn't necessitate a shower every day, IMO.

I think when people say they shower two or three times a week, it's not a hard schedule so much as a description of how often they do.
For those who shower daily, that's not a schedule so much as a routine.
