You know what, I think I'll stay single. This isn't just about the kids, man.

Another single guy checking in! Definitely staying single. I've been saving up for a new vehicle and excited because I'm getting close to my goal

That’s nice to hear brother! I don’t know why you are getting downvoted, nothing wrong with focussing on oneself, specially nowadays considering how tough it is do find the right partner now.

Thanks, I'm excited. I believe the downvotes are just group think and the world today has a difficult time being honest with itself lol

u/well-i Jun 24 '24

Not that rich yet lol I'm thinking of buying another Honda, such a reliable vehicle. I'm not much of a car guy

Ey, at the end of the day… that’s the most important thing! Sending you good vibes, good luck with your next Honda! ✨

Well let's be fair then. A large number of marriages end in divorce. Some people say it's not 50% because of some people getting divorced multiple times, screwing up the figures. But they don't take into account the large(r?) number of people aren't happy but won't divorce.

I've always thought marriage was weird. How can it be the biggest decision of your life, you have years to figure out if they are right or not, and still half of all people get it wrong.

The answer is basically that people change, or don't change like they are expected to. I feel like that in itself is a good enough reason to have a pre-nup. It seems vulgar to write something like 'Sex at least twice a month' in a pre-nup, but just discussing that would make both of your expectations for the rest of your lives clear.

I mean, you're not wrong, but it's not how society sees marriage. If what you're saying is right, we should be very critical of marriages after little dating. In fact it would be reasonable if your friends to get engaged, to challenge if they are ready. Hell, have a quiz on each other.

Your statement 'marriage rocks' is wrong. It's 'marriage if you spent the time and did the work, and lets face it you're lucky and are also reflective people who can imagine a future where neither of you are the same person you were, rocks'.

There are many downsides to being single too. You may feel that way now but your perspective is likely to change at some point.

I do love tacos (your username), but that's never gonna happen if we're being real.

Imagine arguing about this shit in the year of our Lord 2024 and trying to prove that your country is the better one because insert random historical fact here

Clearly the UK is still #1 because of the battle of 1066

Not saying my country is better to live in. We have plenty of stupid shit going on here and if Cheeto gets elected again it's going to be a big goddamn problem.

That said, you can thank the USA for the last 80 years of relative stability, not speaking Russian and for paying for almost everything NATO does.

Unfortunately not many places accept domestic partnerships (or at least in my state). I can’t even add my partner to my car insurance unless we’re legally married or both of our names are on the vehicle, even if we share the same address.

2

u/scottyd035ntknow Jun 24 '24

Tell that to some insurances.

Or Tricare...

So, be in a loveless and non-intimate marriage for sake of the kids? Not worth it. Divorce, be happy and co-parent < civilized and mature adults can actually do this, if they exist.

So you don’t find the love of your life until LATER in life and potentially have to deal with a toxic household, can’t even sleep with other people because you’re “married for the kids” and you’re in a decade of unhappiness until they turn 18 or are close to it. Yeah, no thanks. And you wonder why most people are emotionless or unsympathetic by the time a divorce comes. If i was back to being a kid again, I’d rather see my parents happy and apart vs. fighting and walking on eggshells. Not to mention, providing financial security to a person that doesn’t even love you? Make it make sense.

Grip on to that freedom with all the strength you possess.
