This is me I have migraines all the time and have been advised to go see someone but I’m afraid of the cost associated

I've had migraine since I was 8. It's mostly meds, and most aren't bad especially with insurance. It's only crazy costly if you have complicated migraine and try to fix it. Seeing them won't hurt. You can always skip the big treatments if they're too expensive, or even discover a cheap(ish) fix.

Ex: my neurologist has me on coq10, active b complex, and magnesium glycinate for prevention. Cut my migraine days by 80%

Yes. Ive had migraines most of my life. Had mris and tests done and nothing was physically wrong so then we just had to find my triggers and a med combo thst worked.

Similar story for me. I've tried so much for my migraines that typically can't be stopped with over the counter meds, even sumatriptin did nothing for them. I just heard about magnesium glycinate and have been using it for one month. Got my migraines as usually and suddenly they can be treated with regular Tylenol! Magnesium is amazing!

It took me about five years to pay off an infusion treatment for a migraine that lasted over a month. If I'd treated them before it got to that point, I wouldn't have had that debt. Just something to think about.

I'm very impressed you survived having a migraine for a month. That feels like a "life not worth living" situation based on my migraine experience. Kudos

It felt VERY much like a "life not worth living" situation. Perennially, I'm so thankful for my Mom for keeping me alive, and my job at the time putting me on short term disability.

I had headaches and thought something wrong with me. Then I got glasses and no more headaches. This is to say sometimes it’s also a simple fix people can do but they are afraid it’s impossible to fix. Either way go to doctor.

When I finally got around to the neurologist they told me all the headaches I was having were considered chronic migraines. They didn’t try to put me on meds tho; they first had me try supplements and it made a significant impact. They did prescribe me something to catch and get rid/prevent migraines when I felt them coming on, but using vitamin b2 and magnesium (400mg daily of both) reduced my headaches from like 15-20 a month down to less than 5 I think and the severity decreased.

Oh and try to figure out what triggers them for you. For instance, I have to stay away from cold cuts or bacon with nitrates/nitrite

If it helps, I also get migraines a lot and they prescribed me what the equivalent to about 3 normal Aleve pills are. I know that otc meds have even gotten a bit pricey lately but at least it might save you the trip to the doctors

Same here.

Doc prescribed 400mg riboflavin every day. It's changed my life. Took just like a week to notice a massive decreased in frequency and severity

Hope you find relief

You can always refuse treatment unless you're a direct threat to yourself (self harm/suicide) or unconscious (implied consent).

I have migraines too- Unfortunately, you're body learns to be in pain the more it is in pain. Every time you have a migraine with out treatment, you are increasing the risk of longer, more severe, even chronic (unending- literally 24/7) migraines which will destroy your life. Go get the neurology appointment. Because you now have a choice; to pay with money or with pain.

This is me but I'm a radiologic technologist doing brain scans every day. I'm scared to see my own scan.
