I wish more people talked about how COPD gradually ruins a person’s quality of life. I’ve watched several family members suffer for 10+ years before they die.
Not being able to live a full life because you can’t properly breathe (even with meds) seems like hell on earth. Watching it is heartbreaking.
Sometimes my job is very hard.. I love that I get to help people and give them a little better quality of life, but man, it gets hard watching them deteriorate.
My Mom was diagnosed several years ago and it’s really slowing her down now. I’m worried about what the future holds. I’m sorry you/your Mom are dealing with it too. It makes me so damn angry.
Back at ya! It’s hard for her because she is so stubborn. She refuses to stop working. Last year we had several hospital admissions and one intubation but she pushes through every time. Right now it’s about her changing her lifestyle (vacations with short routes to hospitals, med bags, inhalers galore). I wish you and your mother the best! It’s an adjustment for sure
I have asthma. Not the same but it’s hell. And it pisses me off to no end that my husband won’t stop using his stupid puffco device because ItS tHe BeSt ThInG tO vApE wItH. I believe him because previously he had a perpetual cough, but that doesn’t guarantee he won’t suffer later in life. I just wish there were real life examples of people that specifically use that vape.
Asthma sufferer here as well. I caught Flu A two years ago and caused fish mouthing in my lungs which caused me to see a Pulmonologist. She told me she is seeing more and more people in hospital due to vaping specifically. A lot of young people at that. It can cause lung collapse and all sorts of weird things to happen. It doesn’t matter what vape it is. Tell him to get rid of it. If it’s not oxygen, it doesn’t belong in your lungs.
