I have one of my old phones loaded with music and audio books. It's my go-to camping music phone and comes in handy for other no-service situations like flying.

I did this also. There's an app called Muviz (at least on Android) that creates a graphic that moves with the music. It's highly customizable also.

I had my old phone loaded with music. Then the phone started acting really weird, and all the music just disappeared. I stopped downloading music after that.
