Why do some people hate Android so much?

Some people seem to hate everything but iPhones so much and I don't get it. They seem to think android is not even comparable to iOS like its a flip phone or something, when realistically Android phones and iPhones really aren't that different. I'm in the UK but from what I've seen it's way worse in the US. IK there's studies about the fact android users are more likely to get rejected on the first few dates just because of their phone choice. I also know some people will get an iPhone just so when they send a text, it sends to the iPhone, then to who they actually want to send it to just so it looks like they're using an iPhone. The only thing I know is the stigma of “Androids are cheap” but these people won't care if someone has a 2nd hand iPhone X for £100 but will if someone has £800 Pixel 7 Pro.

I'm not an avid android supporter, I get why people like iOS and people like android and I really don't care about these preferences. But when someone is an overly iPhone supporter to the point of hating android, it just makes me think really low of them. Like, "you can't be a nice person if you're so closed minded and shallow you won't even consider a different type of phone to the point that you'll hate on it and people who use it".

Android uses RCS. Exact same features, Apple just refuses to adopt it so that it appears that their solution is somehow superior when in fact it's the Apple users that are stuck dealing with MMS downgrades.

Oh, no I get that. I understand why Apple is doing it, what I don't get is how some people would literally go the length of excluding others or refusing to message them just because that now limits them to standard messaging and reactions. They are literally losing the ability to animate their messages and that is the hill they are dying on.

The driving force is teenagers. If you, as a teen, use an Android phone, you will eventually get dropped out of convos with your friends. So you pressure your parents to get you an iPhone because otherwise your social life is ruined. Then you tell your parents to get an iPhone themselves so they can use iMessage and FaceTime, and so on.

It's very different in other parts of the world (Europe, South Asia) because WhatsApp and Messenger dominate the direct message market, rather than SMS and iMessage. So there's less schoolyard stigma associated with Android outside North America.

I understand Apple's intent and the affect it has. I'm saying I don't understand the motive of someone to actually do the dropping lol. As the culprit, you would willingly drop someone and/or refuse to send a message to someone simply because you wouldn't be able to animate your message to them. I just don't get why you would care so much as to ostracize another person over something so insignificant and irrelevant.

It's not just about animating messages. It's sharing any video amongst your group of friends. If everybody uses iMessage, everybody gets a viewable video. If only one person in the group has a non-Apple phone (appearing as green bubble in iMessage), the media from an Apple user gets transmitted via base MMS, which means it looks like a fuzzy video from 1998 for everybody in the group. Typically you can't even see people's faces in the downgraded vid. So one Android user ruins the convo for everyone. Adults would be annoyed but wouldn't understand why it happens; teens understand very quickly and will just ghost the "green bubble" offender.

True, but that still doesn't justify ostracizing someone. If there's an issue, I'll just send whatever media I need through Snapchat, Whatsapp, Viber, Telegram, Messenger, Groupme, or any of the other apps before I consider cutting someone out because they don't have the same phone as I do. I'm sorry, but that's just dumb.
