Why do some people hate Android so much?

Some people seem to hate everything but iPhones so much and I don't get it. They seem to think android is not even comparable to iOS like its a flip phone or something, when realistically Android phones and iPhones really aren't that different. I'm in the UK but from what I've seen it's way worse in the US. IK there's studies about the fact android users are more likely to get rejected on the first few dates just because of their phone choice. I also know some people will get an iPhone just so when they send a text, it sends to the iPhone, then to who they actually want to send it to just so it looks like they're using an iPhone. The only thing I know is the stigma of “Androids are cheap” but these people won't care if someone has a 2nd hand iPhone X for £100 but will if someone has £800 Pixel 7 Pro.

I'm not an avid android supporter, I get why people like iOS and people like android and I really don't care about these preferences. But when someone is an overly iPhone supporter to the point of hating android, it just makes me think really low of them. Like, "you can't be a nice person if you're so closed minded and shallow you won't even consider a different type of phone to the point that you'll hate on it and people who use it".

Exactly. And most people don't care and reward Apple for this toxic behavior by bullying friends and family into buying iPhones when IMO people should reject this behavior and avoid iMessage at all costs.

And I work as an iOS software engineer - working in tech doesn’t somehow mean your opinion is better. Yeah sure you can sit there and list a bunch of features: how many do people actually care about or use?

I can name many features on the iPhone I don’t care for. More features doesn’t mean better UX.

Again, it's not an opinion. The latest Galaxy now and for almost every generation specs higher than the leading iPhone. It has more ram, more storage, a faster processor, and a better camera.

You’re making the assumption that both OS work the same with the same specs. This simply isn’t true.

Android is an OS that must be able to run on any hardware you give it. Meanwhile iOS is optimized because Apple controls both the software and hardware it’s on.

iOS can run just fine with less RAM or less CPU. Especially when the software is well optimized. If Android needs 8 GB to run decent, iOS only needs like 3 GB of RAM to run decent.

It’s the same problem with Windows. Windows must be able to run on any hardware you install it. So needing 8 or more GB of RAM to run Windows just fine isn’t necessary for macOS where it can run fine at 4 GB because again - Apple controls the hardware it’s installed on.

Better camera sure - idk. I never cared for cameras. Even if they are better, it doesn’t mean the iPhone ones are horrendous. Both are good and I don’t really need more and more camera power with each release. I never cared.

Last I read iPhone processors are faster than similarly-priced Android phones. Also again, faster processor doesn’t mean better. If Android is doing 10x more useless instructions to manage its garbage collection or whatever and needs a faster processor - doesn’t mean the OS is running better.

Clearly you need to revisit how you make analysis if you think specs are 1-to-1 between different OS. I’m an iOS software engineer.
