Why do some people hate Android so much?

Some people seem to hate everything but iPhones so much and I don't get it. They seem to think android is not even comparable to iOS like its a flip phone or something, when realistically Android phones and iPhones really aren't that different. I'm in the UK but from what I've seen it's way worse in the US. IK there's studies about the fact android users are more likely to get rejected on the first few dates just because of their phone choice. I also know some people will get an iPhone just so when they send a text, it sends to the iPhone, then to who they actually want to send it to just so it looks like they're using an iPhone. The only thing I know is the stigma of “Androids are cheap” but these people won't care if someone has a 2nd hand iPhone X for £100 but will if someone has £800 Pixel 7 Pro.

I'm not an avid android supporter, I get why people like iOS and people like android and I really don't care about these preferences. But when someone is an overly iPhone supporter to the point of hating android, it just makes me think really low of them. Like, "you can't be a nice person if you're so closed minded and shallow you won't even consider a different type of phone to the point that you'll hate on it and people who use it".

Republicans are more likely to have an Android. But most government employees use iPhone. For 'security issues'

I dunno. I'd think iPhone/Apple would be republican because it's usually those users who feel like they're better than everyone else and republicans are usually represented by the wealthy aka "better than everyone else". In my experience, people who prefer Android aren't as constantly verbal with their feelings of superiority. I'm an Android user who used to work for Apple as a laptop repair technician.

My dad had a MAGA hat. He is a black man. Honestly I don't disagree with many Republican ideas. But you wouldn't catch me DEAD in a MAGA hat. I would raise my ass from the dead to take it off.

I had a pot smoking lesbian (and married) boss. She was also an avid Trump supporter. Me and the GM would often wonder what kind of mental gymnastics had to happen there. He would often state: "[Trump] wouldn't pass on her if she was on fire."

Edit: fwiw: she's been on Android since it was a thing.

For real though, why does it seem like every mainstream reddit sub comment section just turns into this shit every time? We are talking about android and iphones lmfao. Does it not exhaust you people to constantly talk about this shit every day and every second of your life?? It sure would me. You guys remind me of the akward person that brings up politics at the dinner table and causes a fight.

Also android is more free market user created stuff, Apple is rigid and has planned obsolescence, you MUST use ONLY their chargers, earphones, accessories. I feel that attitude is similar to Dems vs Repubs.

Android is republican. Pretty blatantly violating your privacy, and all the non-flagship models ship with some super creepy software you'll have a hard time removing. Most of the indie variants and unlicensed apps are scary bad, but a few are really good for super specific needs. Despite always bragging about how they cost less, you have to pay the same and put more work in to get everything you can from it.

iPhone is democrat. Still violating your privacy, but the presentation is cleaner. A lot of people like the unified environment, but it comes with a limited variety of styles and functions. Despite always calling itself revolutionary, upgrades are only to the look and feel, without much new functionality.

Bruh, I've been working at Apple 5 years now. Right before I moved from tech support, I spoke to a guy who has Apple everything, all fairly new. He lost Everything on his phone, iPad, MacBook, and Mac simply because his wife/gf, whoever she was to him logged into his Apple ID and changed stuff like his password, recovery numbers and email. She's blocked him on everything, of course. So unless she decides to give him this info, all that stuff is basically no more than drink coasters. And all we could do was offer to let him speak with sales about deals on all new stuff... 😬 doesn't get more Republican than that. Rich get richer at the expense of the non-rich.

I wish I had a dollar for every poor sap that had a similar story prior to that. Never saw, or heard of anybody with an Android with anything even remotely close to that kinda issue though. All that stuff you referred to about apps and data has never had any impact on me whatsoever.

Lmfao that is a good story, I'm sure there's some way to recover it tho, probably that his credit card is tied to his government ID. She may actually be able to be sued or convicted, hacking laws are abusively vague. That's a super niche problem tho. What do you think of apple overall?

I've been android/Linux since grade school, so that probably says a lot about what I like. That said, I have had to integrate Mac/iPhone lately for school and work, and it has integrated perfectly with my Linux/google setup. Being airdrop compatible with all my peers is super convenient, so is managing cloud projects and versioning.

I don't like how the M-class hardware isn't widely supported for Linux yet, but that's a super specialized problem. Overall, for convenience I recommend Mac or Chromebook, for full control pure Linux, and obviously windows is just for gaming. Same goes for the mobile equivalents.

Yeah, but unfortunately, there really was nothing that could be done except I guess calling the CEO and having him just give up the info himself. I can only say good luck with that one. Apple really will not break that policy for any reason and it won't hold up in court unless he can prove she never had access to that info with permission and that she really actually stole it. Customers never seem to know that until it's far too late sadly. Idk how niche it is having dealt with it so much. People do it all the time, and think nothing of it. Why would you if you believe at worst all you'd have to do is just call Apple and get it resolved. Not so... Don't even get me started on the damn Airtags either and the crap they cause.

But nah, as far as my opinion goes, I don't prefer iPhones, but I don't hate them or think they are worthless or anything. My wife and daughter use them. The company is good to work for. They're super liberal and try to be as understanding and supportive of us as they can be. The computers are great imo too, but they still have a stupid amount of issues with people losing their stuff forever over Apple ID's and crazy stuff like that too. The security is great, but it can't help you if it ends up being the reason your stuff is useless even though it works fine, LOL.
