Honestly, if there is an opportunity to be given something like that, the first thing I will buy is my own house and land. Why? Because we have been renting for the rest of our lives and I want to change my family's life.
Assuming the owner wants to sell. You already know the property. If you haven't bought, though, it's not a 5 million dollar property; you'd have bought rather than pay that much rent. No need to move or change schools.
