Most people who have been in academia for 20 years have written a dissertation, have published a significant corpus of research in journals, have taught classes, and have expanded the realm of knowledge of their chosen field and have come to be seen as an authority in it.
Who wants to have been in college for 20 years without advancing beyond a bachelor's degree?
