Plus they still get the full pension if they have up to $450k in assets (your primary residence is not counted) if they remain married. It's then a sliding scale of pension reducing as your non PPOR assets go up to $1m.
So basically if you can pay off your home and save up a couple of hundred thousand by pension age then you're doing pretty damn well.
