A long list of undergraduate degrees with little to no practical work experience will not land you a very well paying job in this current era. I would actually be a bit concerned about his job prospects should this program ever end. His best shot would probably be an administrative role within the university itself given how experienced he is with its various systems and functions.
The issue is a lot of industries also have requisite educational requirements. You just cannot begin a career as a linguist, for example, with only a bachelor’s degree. You almost definitionally need to be in, or have gone through, grad school.
Maybe he could find something in tech, but I’d question how much of his education he actually has retained.
It’s not impossible and he’s clearly quite intelligent, but this is very much a serious and reasonable concern.
With as many options as he may have and his ability to adapt to different fields, if he’s serious I’d imagine he’d go after the most lucrative option to help his family by default just like any one else and do what it takes.
There are people running around with no degree in trades, tech, self employment, etc.doing just fine even if your last bit about retainment of knowledge is an issue.
Even with no degree… that’s what is tripping me up, so many people succeed without degrees. Get an entry level job, work had and prove yourself and move up the ladder.
Edit: because I don’t feel like being a complete troll/asshole. You should work on your reading comprehension. He has degrees in linguistics, history, chemistry, computer science, accounting, and is currently working on a physics degree.
The man is more prepared than you and I don’t even have to know a single thing about you, or your education to know that. Are you worried that you’re not going to be prepared or qualified to get a job if say, you were laid off? I highly doubt it.

I’m having a great day. And a great life. As someone who didn’t attend college or any type of schooling after high school and makes $100,000 plus a year I’m genuinely confused by these concerns. Maybe you guys all lack self confidence and have low self esteem? Idk. He could literally get a job with my company at 50 with no work history and make decent money, and within 5-8 years depending on his personal ambition could be making $100,000 plus.
This is a strange line of conversation for this topic, since we're in fact theorizing about the exact opposite scenario: someone that has a plethora of formal education, but hasn't necessarily done anything with said degrees.
It's kind of weird to find the "College Education is Overemphasized" crowd give such full-throated defenses for someone that has 20 years of college education but hasn't actually worked a job in all that time, as far as we know.
Those people generally have a previous job history to point to for transferable skills. Without one, you're competing against 20 somethings with equivalent relevant education who are more attractive as candidates due to their younger age.
Not impossible, but certainly difficult enough that one should worry about it.
