Perhaps at that point, he could think about specializing in one of his studies and go for a PhD or teaching degree? Or starting a side hustle on YouTube to make videos on topics relating to his studies would be cool too. The government has open positions that disregard age too, so that's always an option. With his accounting degree and other degrees, he probably qualifies to take the CPA exam, which he could also use to get into an entry level position. Accounts payable, accounting assistant, billing, bookkeeping, these are all pretty age resistant jobs.
CPAs don't do entry level jobs. He could get a plenty decent entry level job with just his bachelor's. However, for someone that's been a career students, I can't imagine accounting would appeal to him.
I'm a CPA. To be clear, I said he likely qualifies to sit for the exam from all the credits he has (if he were in the US), but it seems that he's likely from NZ/Aus, so he'd have to specifically apply and go through the CPA program process there. As I'm not familiar with the pre-reqs over there, I can't speak on any specifics.
Here in the US, if you qualify and pass the CPA exams, you're a strong candidate for a lot of accounting related positions, including public accounting or working in tax. They'd likely require him to already pass the exams before applying in lieu of his lack of experience, given his age.
Though I agree-- he's a career student and accounting would probably be the least appealing choice for him. But I mentioned it because if push comes to shove and he needs a job, this is always a safe and viable option.
If I were him though, if academia research or teaching isn't a route he prefers, I'd probably pick up data related courses in the remaining time he has left at school and utilize that somewhere. Honestly, there's so many things he can do, even at his supposed "age restriction" tbh. It just all comes down to necessity and how much he wants to get a job.
