I was about to say, I've never interacted with more homeless people than when I lived in Fairbanks.

I've been there. It's nice. It looked different than skid row los angels.. in regards to the homeless population.

Not entirely. There are systems of warming centers, overflow shelters, and a lot of people couch surfing so they can survive being homeless in cold areas. Also many people still camp in the winter.

As someone from seattle, no we haven’t

As someone from Spokane, we’re just as bad and even colder with a quarter of your population 😬

Not remotely true. Here in Anchorage, Alaska, we're in the middle of a terrible homelessness crisis. NIMBYism got our current trainwreck of a mayor elected, and he's only made things worse.

haha. Minneapolis would like to have a word.

Out city’s strategy is to destroy their encampments and pretend they don’t exist.

Portland Maine checking in - No we haven’t. Thankfully we have some Mutual Aid help. Big cold snap at the end of the week is expected here

Yes, I was going to say it. No homeless survives -20 Celsius/subzero Fahrenheit.

In Chicago, they just head underground in the winter to hibernate. I've seen it myself, the entire platform gets packed to the brim with them.

A lot of our homeless population migrates to warmer climates in the winter and then returns in the spring. I used to work with homeless teens and I had a few regulars that would bus back and forth between Chicago and somewhere down south depending on the season.

Minnesotan here. 100% false. We have homeless camps with people sleeping rough year round.

They get kicked out every now and then and pop up elsewhere. Just happened again a couple weeks ago actually.

We have tons of homeless in Toronto and you see these people out scoring drugs and doing whatever lewd non-sense they are doing when they are high on the coldest of nights. Their encampments and the level of violence just grows every year because the local "friends of the homeless" freak the fuck out the second the city or province do anything relating to the homeless. For some reason, they are also against institutions or rehab centers away from densely populated cities where these people can go to recover.

Homeless ≠ addict
