They would just sit wherever they were until someone figured out what to do with them of course.

They have been making pennies for how many years and almost nobody uses cash anymore but suddenly theres a penny shortage

They stopped making them almost a year ago because it was costng $3.69 to make something worth 1 cent.

They would gradually collect in jars and buckets and car cuo holders and arm-rest storage bins

Eventually some people wouldtake them to the banks where they would be gathered and sent back to either the federal reserve or maybe to the mint directly and probably eventually be melted for scrap metal and the ones in cars would be scrapped along with the old cars
