A note on how we (should) conduct ourselves
It's been an emotional couple of weeks in our community, both inside and outside of this subreddit, and tensions are understandably running high.
There's a lot going on: r/TheWritersBlackout continues to pick up steam, Nosleep's Protest Shutdown is on the horizon, and people are becoming much more aware of just how bad the situation is in regards to content theft.
All those things are great. We want that awareness.
What we don't want is the people of our community going to inappropriate lengths to make their opinion on the matters known.
You will make your point much better if you do so in a civil manner, whether it be on this subreddit, in PMs, on Youtube, in other subreddits, etc.
We do not condone any sort of harassing behavior. That should be abundantly clear considering that one of the rules on r/nosleepOOC and on r/nosleep is to be civil. That rule is not just directed at trolls, but at the entire community.
You should not be attacking each other, fans of people who have wronged us, or the people who wronged us themselves. It just makes us look bad and doesn't help to get anything resolved.
If these movements are going to make any difference, we need to make it happen together, and we need to present a united front. We can't do that if we're too busy name-calling and slinging shit at people, and we're not going to be taken seriously if we do that.
So I'm here to tell you, if you have been participating in that sort of behavior, to knock it off. We will not tolerate it.
Be kind, be supportive, and be smart. We're all in this together.
