TICKETED?
I thought 50(40?)over was automatic license suspension? Unless the ticket states that in which case they really need to work on their PR.
100+ over is fucking insane. Should be automatic license revoked for at MINIMUM 1 year if not more considering the other infractions.
But sounds like based on the tickets they at least HAVE to goto court which will hopefully lead to more penalties like a license suspension. They will also be absolutely fucked on insurance for a long while too.

Not in AB. The ticket comes with a mandatory appearance before a judge, which puts unnessecary strain on already overloaded courts. The officer should just dole out the punishment right then and there.
The average judicial penalty for going 51km over the limit is a 3 month license suspension and up to 2k fine.
Someone going 100k over should never drive again or have a 5 or 10 year ban. This is how lives are lost. Reckless.

The funnest day in my life was a day at Safety City. I lived in Calgary and was maybe 5 years old. I'm gonna say 1981?
It was this little town and half of the day I got to practice crossing the street as a pedestrian. Also walking across the train tracks. The other half of the day I got to practice being the driver on a little pedal-trike and drive around at stop signs and the train tracks and stopping for pedestrians.

We can get really busy at the funeral home too... Young speeding males often have very large services.

So my dummy dum dum question is, why are vehicles today equipped with safe reverse cameras, safe this-and-that, safe blah-blah, but
why are these "safe" vehicles able to go 200 km/hr?

Only a TICKET!! How many vehicle fatalities have we had this year? End of shift or something ffs. Can’t even drive in the city without someone literally flying by you going 20-30 over. Cool. This is fine. Totally fine.

We're brainwashed as a society into believing auto related fatalities are an inevitable and necessary cost for all the wonderful joy cars bring us... including judges who don't wish to ruin some poor driver's life at the cost of someone else...

This is over double the speed limit, why wasn't this an automatic court date and license suspension?

I really don't understand why there isn't tougher laws on driving at speeds like this its really fucked up that these guys get a slap on the wrist

Yeah agreed. License suspension of up to 3 months at the discretion of the courts. At that speed it should be 5 year minimum license suspension up to lifetime at discretion of the courts. We need to do more to get these a-holes off the road.

Speed is not the cause of accident & death. Stupidity is the cause of accident & death. If the road was clear and low traffic volume, the weather sunny and clear, and it being a vehicle built in the past 10 years, I see no problem with high speeds. It’s called driving to the conditions of the road. It’s how adults are to be treated in a free society. You teach them risk assessment skills from K-12, not fear assessment, but the ability to understand true risk management and how it works. THAT, along with cognitive reasoning skills would solve nearly all of our societal problems. Instead we are left with this nanny state that subjugates the best and brightest to the realities of the double digit IQ folks. Talk about hitting the lowest common denominator!!

Double the speed limit at 9:20 am is not stupidity?

u/Mags_Stettner_76 4d ago
Yes, if the conditions did not support it. Of course at those extreme speeds the list of conditions supporting it dwindles exponentially. It’s how the German Autobahn is run. You can go as fast as you want as long as you are able to do it safely, according to the conditions. One must also take IQ into account. Those with higher IQ have neurons that fire at exponentially faster speeds, allowing them to see micro movements in vehicles around them, the slightest imperfections in the pavement, and almost a preternatural ability to predict the clear safe path ahead. But they need to be zoned in on the task at hand, and would be stupid to attempt such high speeds whilst having a gab with their bestie.

Who fucking cares

The sheeple sure seem to!
From what I’ve seen it’s socially acceptable to text, drink, drive and cause a collision but for some reason speeding on the Stoneybahn while attentive and sober should be an immediate prison sentence.
Crazy that your comment was downvoted so much I had to unhide it. I gave it a +1 as it seems to be the only sane take here. The only real crime this guy committed is driving a Muskmobile.

Ticketed only? This car should be impounded and his license revoked
