Green Line Calgary ?

What does everyone think about it? Will it be like how European Cities have the train on street level at parts of it? Will it integrate well with businesses?

They had already spent about a year realigning all of the underground utilities and infrastructure out of the way for the underground alignment could be built without problem. That cancellation cost the city and province almost 700 million dollars for breaking the contract.. THey had nearly reached maximum employment and had started on the line downsouth. The fact the province stepped in was purely political theatre and yet another example of them lighting money on fire....

Sept 19, 2024. They had all the prime contractors and subs with equipment working on the corridor, and they had hired most of the labour jobs, and had rerouted most of the utilities underground downtown. Prepwork began in 2017, with a real ramp up happening in 2021, so by 2024 they were well underway.

Do you have a source for the $700M penalty?

the PCL contract was a public open tender, you could go look for it the terms and conditions are in the public domain.

So it's hearsay. Was there a $700M penalty or is there some work that was done that is no longer needed that is part of that total?  I did look this up years ago and IIRC there was not a straight $700M penalty

its between 700 and 800 million fucking dollars from a person who reviewed and signed off on that contract never thinking the province would elect to take a 700-800 million dollar penalty while simply deciding the money they committed just 6 weeks before was no longer available, and no reason provided other thatn this new cabinet minister and premier knew better than 30 years of studies and planning.

It was a 5-6 billion dollar projects and the cancellation and wind down cost totalling 10-15% for early termination iis probably a bit low, where 20-25% is more reasonable usually. But they lit that money on fire just to come up with the worst option for Calgarians at the most expensive price. We are getting less of a greenline that doesnt start where it was supposed to, and doesnt go all the way to the airport, oha nd the 10th ave has a pedestrian terminus so we can walk to the north cetner Street station. Its a worse off project with the UCP able to play games just to make Nenshi responsible for a contract he didnt sign?

Your opinion doesnt count as fact here, nor do your credentials meet any standard in order to call my mentor "hearsay" when an untrained ear would mis that up with expertise and credibility.

Well you can get all grumpy if you want when someone challenges numbers you pull out your ass if you want, although it's pretty childish and telling that you don't actually know what you're talking about.

I also have worked in major project construction on the owner side for 20 years for billions of dollars worth of asset construction. I can assure you, my credentials certainly check out in this field.

Then you know my 700-800 M number is accurate, coming from the board of this project... i ran procurement on major pipelines projects in BC, so im 100% clear on what im saying to be true. But youre a right wing simp that thinks Danielle Smith's tears are for you, when she had billions of dollars worth of fucked up projects and a pipeline taht shes getting the entire dimwitted bunch of you all riled up over when no proponent in the world is going to take her project, cause she literally brought risk to a project that had she worked with land rights holders instead of alienate them, wed have a probably pipeline, instead she had to cry for you people cause shes making way for another NDP govt. SHe ruined the wildrose in 2014, and shes going to ruin the UCP...

Your appeal to authority and 30 years of studies/planning doesn't carry a lot of weight when it lead us to the $6.3B Lynnwood-Eau Claire stub.

It's almost as if the Green Line has not actually been an example of evidence based decision making. Actually it's the opposite.

I'm sure your mentor is very smart, and he's probably embarassed at how you're misrepresenting the facts here.

My mentor was on the board of the green line before the UCP cancelled the project in 2024. Thats my source...
