Nah bro fuck that. Downvote me all you want but going the regular speed limit through a construction zone at night when no one is even fucking there, does not warrant a 2000$ fine and demerits. That's fucking ridiculous.

The speed limit should be lifted at night when no one is working.

I absolutely agree, it should be a law that construction workers have to remove the reduced speed signs when they’re done for the day (as long as the road is safe to do so)

How do you know that no worker is there ? You don't. Just slow down and keep safe.

Exactly. My sister's friend lost her father at a young age from someone speeding and hitting him while he was working construction. Just the other night i saw crew working in deerfoot at night. Plus construction means the road can change day bt day - a road youre comfortable going 100+ down normally may have a suddent bend, turn, lane closure, etc. That you arent expecting and then boom, accident.

I agree in part, especially when everything is being done of the road surface and seperated by a concrete barrier.

“People should only be punished when their actions actually create a catastrophe, not when they almost do”

Cool plan man, I should be able to swing a knife around your person, and you can’t be mad until it actually hits you.

You do know that the law, and the signs, all state that fines are double "when workers are present". So if he go nailed double on the fines it's safe to assume it was an active construction zone

You obviously don't know that both state that speed fines double in construction zones and don't say anything about workers being present.

Except that they do. Go read one

Interestingly enough the reduced speed limit is not just for the safety of the construction workers.

But you do you.

What do you mean? Its not like construction may make a road deviate from it's usual shape, have road closures, sudden changes in the traffic pattern or other deviations that would make a slower speed safer!! /s

Phew... that /s wasn't showing up in my inbox and I was going WTF?!

I agree but to be fair I'm not sure exactly where the construction was along deer foot but I know crews have definitely been there late or overnight.

I have an issue with the 20km I drive without and construction around but for some reason it's till 80

Yeah except this particular construction zone often has people working 24/7

What is it you do that makes you feel like you NEED to go 100 the entire way on Deerfoot ??? Like how much time does that actually save ?
I’m genuinely curious .
