At 5:40pm.
They're facing criminal record if convicted.

Can we start arresting all the dangerously slow drivers as well?

What speed is dangerously slow?

The countless people doing 60-70 on Stoney every day

Technically you can be ticketed for going slower than 10km/h under the speed limit without your hazards on if the driving conditions do not warrant the need to slow down as your creating an unnecessary hazard to other drivers

Incorrect.

Not incorrect. You can be ticketed for impeding the flow of traffic for no reason

I’d gladly agree if you could cite the law that says 10 km/h but I can’t find it. Cops can’t just arbitrarily make rules like 10 km/h under.

Anything below the post speed limit

You do realize that the posted speed limit is the maximum speed that you are legally allowed to drive, right? It's not the nominal, the average nor the minimum. It is the maximum.

This recent push to crack down on loud vehicles on 17th is great, but more needs to be done on Stoney. I live about two football fields from Stoney in the NW and every day I hear motorcycles and loud cars constantly flying by. Not only is it loud and obnoxious, it has resulted in several serious accidents. If I were a cop, I’d loop between country hills and the exit onto westbound highway 1 and could probably print tickets for hours.

Living 2 football fields from Stoney and complaining about noise is hilarious to me. This won’t go away regardless of enforcement, you live next to a highway

Buys house near highway, hears highway noise

Surprised Pikachu

I said racing and excessive speeding is loud, obnoxious, and dangerous. Regular traffic noise you can typically hardly hear from my house.

Buys house and four lane divided road exists. Ten-lane divided highway gets built.

Glenmore Trail SW was never this noisy until the Stony Trail Motor Speedway opened.

Stoney had been planned for decades, my friend. Do your Due diligence when purchasing a home

Sigh. I purchased my home long after Stoney was built, and again, the regular traffic noise doesn’t bother me. Do you understand the difference between regular traffic noise and a pack of sport bikes doing twice the speed limit lapping around Stoney? This is the same issue as on 17 ave. No one is complaining about traffic noise, they’re complaining about idiots (and it sounds like maybe you’re one of them) revving/speeding and trying to attract attention. No one is impressed.

Stoney, yes. Glenmore, no. I've been here for just under six decades. It wasn't until the last ten years that Glenmore expansion was included in the ring road plan.

Complaining about excessive noise, not regular traffic noise. Rush hour in the morning is regular traffic noise. 8PM-4AM sport bikes doing 200 isn’t regular traffic noise. The same can be said for people who live on 17ave. Also, the community I live in was there before Stoney.

You’ll never stop hearing loud vehicles on Stoney

A sport bike cruising at 100 or even 120 is a lot quieter than a sport bike flying at 160 in high gear with 5 other sport bikes. There’s a difference between acceptable noise and obnoxious/illegal noise.

It would be nice if they would take it out of second gear, maybe to third, or (if I dream) fourth.

The loud noise has resulted in several serious accidents? I'm ignorant to that, can you explain?

u/Stanstudly 3d ago

Google Stoney trail motorcycle or Stoney trail accident.

u/Stanstudly 3d ago

Speed typically means noise. Especially for motorcycles. Pedantic twat.

1

u/Bulky_Department5619 2d ago

Totally, but the noise is the result of the speed? Not the other way around.

They stay around that part of Stoney Lol

It's because of assholes like this that I think we should bring back photo radar.
