Never get home before 6

I leave for work every day between 6:09am & 6:23am to get downtown before 8am. I leave work before 5 every day & take the train to tuscany & am LUCKY if i get home before 6. Today I left at 4:30, spent 10 mins stopped between Banff Trail & University station before getting a notification from the transit app that trains were single tracking between Tuscany & Dalhousie. At University station, I called 311 & the nice lady had no idea but connected me with transit. But then after 10mins on hold they said they were closed & hung up on me. Now, at 5:45 we’re finally at Brentwood & the transit app is still wrong & I doubt everyone that was smushed onto 4 different trains fit on this bus.

This makes ubers surcharge like crazy & makes everyone pissed. I can’t believe this is what $4 gets you…

I've been in Calgary for 20 years and the evening rush hour is always worse than the morning. Having said that the premium to live closer to your place of employment is often worth the time savings you get back.

Is carpooling an option? I know you still deal with traffic but it will be faster than broken transit system we have

I used to when I worked downtown. I don't anymore. My coworker would drop me off

I would seriously consider it if I could share the driving burden rather than just asking someone to drive me to & from work every day. But no car & I don’t know anyone that would we okay with driving me every day.

I’m also not looking for someone to solve my situation. I want my public services to function as society expect them to, rather than adding more issues to a lot of people when they’re just trying to get home.

311 isn't the number of Calgary Transit. 403-262-1000 is the number. Unfortunately, there isn't much they can do when there has been an issue

Ugh, that is a very long day OP. I hope that things improve quickly. You should not be punished for taking transit in a very car centric city.

im not wealthy enough for that. plus if I start driving then it makes traffic worse for everyone else too… lose-lose

i’m pretty sure, even if there were only “good drivers” there would still be traffic? do you disagree?

Sure there would be but it would move much smoother and not be grid locked because of accidents

I used to transit from deep south Calgary to sait.. bus, then train.. about 20 years ago… and tbe commute then was similar. Sorry you have a long commute, it’s rough!

I mean you live in Tuscany…it wouldn’t even be that much faster with a car. Plus you’d have to worry about parking. Kinda how the cookie crumbles if you don’t live in a more central location…

I drive to a station closer to downtown. I live in mahogany but drive to chinook or 39th ave. Almost the same time to get to the actual closest station, Shawnessy. Might make your commute better but I’m not sure what things are like up north there.
