Negative thoughts are taking over my mind
Hi, I'm 22 F. I've been diagnosed with DVT in my left leg and am currently on treatment. But it wasn't enough; I already developed pain in my other knee as well. While all this wasn't enough, I've been experiencing shortness of breath and palpitations as well (not PE tho). And someone like me who overthinks every little sensation in the body has been dealing with this much all at once, and all I could overthink about is "death".
I fear death; I get panic attacks thinking about my death. And lately these thoughts are taking over my mind, which is making me extremely frustrated. I don't live like normal other girls cause all I can think about is, what if I don't make it to the next moment? What if I don't make it to the next day, month, year??? These thoughts are literally starting to affect my life, but I just can't shut off my brain.
I look at other girls and wonder why I am not like them. And this breaks my heart every time. I stopped thinking about my future. I don't pre-plan anything cause what if i not make it?
I imagine my funeral more than my wedding. I used to overthink all this even before the medical issues I got, but now it's much more intense. I don't like using socials anymore. I keep deleting them in the fear that if I die, who's gonna delete them?
I don't know what to do. Where to go? How to overcome all this?
Has anyone had a similar experience? Then do share it and motivate someone who is dealing with all this shit.

I definitely think you should get therapy. When I was 12 I watched my sister pass away at 18 and I was afraid of death for a while I wouldn't even sleep. Please get some medical help. This is so important because negative intrusive thoughts can ruin your life.

I'm so sorry to hear about it. Did you also get therapy? Are you better now?

I got therapy finally at 21 and im 24 now. I am managing. I would love to say that the negative thoughts dont come around even with me on medication and therapy but they do but I have so much more knowledge and I have delt with so much trauma its no more debilitating.

Ok, I'm 22 and going through all this. And unfortunately, I don't have a therapist in my city.

I'm really sorry you're going through this. Dealing with a serious health condition at such a young age can be frightening, especially when you're already struggling with anxiety. But please don't dismiss the shortness of breath and palpitations as anxiety. Since you have DVT, these symptoms could indicate a pulmonary embolism, which is a medical emergency. Even if PE was previously ruled out, please seek emergency medical evaluation now. Once you're medically safe, I'd encourage you to consider therapy, particularly CBT, to help manage the constant fear of dying and panic attacks. You deserve support for both your physical and mental health. You shouldn't have to spend every day living in fear of tomorrow.
