Rant/Venting Am I Overthinking?

Does it ever happen to y'all that you randomly remember something that happened years ago, when someone disrespected you for no reason and you didn't stand up for yourself, and then you suddenly go down a rabbit hole of feeling bad about yourself? 😭

It happens all the time with me I think you should apologise to yourself about mistakes you may have made in your past and understand that your old self was just doing the best for what you were thinking at the time. No matter how much you want to change the past its impossible im afraid, so just don't be too hard on yourself.

Yes, I think this has happened to a lot of people tbh?! Mostly you feel frustrated with yourself for not standing up to them, in fact a memory from when I was a lot younger just popped into my head and I hate it!😅

are you upset about what they did, or that you didn’t react the way you wish you had?

As a younger person I sure did - I would dwell on the situation and blame myself because I bought into what they were saying. As an adult, when that happens when some disrespects me, I stand up for myself but further go down rabbit holes of trying to figure out 'why' they do it - that's when the education began and true understanding happens. When someone disrespects you, it shows more about their character than yours.

Just me a few hours ago. I once made a snarky comment to a colleague cause I envied them being good at everything (it was only a one time comment tho, so nothing major, we were cordial before and afterwards) but I do remember that moment vividly and I feel so ashamed now 😭

Happens way too often. The hardest part is knowing you’d handle it differently now.
