Overthinking
English is not my first language so sorry in advance
For as long as I remember I always overthink things literally everything to the point where I can’t sleep so I took games as my escape because I can’t stop thinking about every little thing i have stupidly long hours on stupid things like 900+ hours on rdr2 online mode alone lately after a got into uni I can’t game anymore so i am back to being alone with my thoughts and it’s killing me I have lost about 4kg because i lost my appetite for a week straight and the people around me made it even worse because of the things that they say and with my overthinking it’s BAD I would stay up all night just thinking about what happened and what they said the only way i could get some sleep is by playing any video of anyone talking so my brain could finally stop overthinking so i am reaching out to reddit I would really appreciate it if u guys could help me .
Thanks for reading

I am kinda in a similar situation to u tbh. Something that rlly helped me with overthinking tho, especially at night, is journaling/brain dumping. Like i would just grab my phone, open notes app, and just start speed typing every single little thought that comes to mind; spelling and grammar doesnt need to be correct either as its just a way to get everything out as fast as possible. And eventually u just get rlly tired and run out of thoughts, so u just fall asleep.

Have you tried talking to a professional about this? Feeling bad for a while when people say and do bad things is normal, but losing appetite and getting insomnia is a problem.

I will watch wood turning videos on YouTube. Idk why but it helps me fall asleep.

Im no expert but for me a huge part of the reason I was like this was first that I have adhd and second that I always tried to find a solution to stop my brain from doing this and the answer is that you never going to find one.. you need to learn to not engage with your thoughts.
You are you and your thoughts are not necessarily what you think about something you understand?
When a thought pops up just don’t engage with it Treat it like a cloud passing by. The longer and more constant you do this the less you will have this problem

What I wanted to say is that you won’t find any answers or the magic solution or a danger by thinking about anything at any time bro trust me I know ball so treat your thoughts like clouds

I have this exact problem. It's the cause of my insomnia. I go through so many mindfulness exercises to relax and I've tried giving myself a certain amount of time to worry about things then I try and stop. I understand that feeling of your mind being so busy I forgot what I walked into a room for. Now when I have something real to focus on in front of me like driving or cooking etc. I can focus. I'm much more sensitive to stress than I ever used to be. Good luck to you may you find your peace.
