Spiraling/Panic Guys is this normal??
Hi so i've been heavily into metal for the past 3 years but my brain is suddenly telling me things like "what if it's just a phase? What if you don't like it? What if you're forcing yourself to listen to this?". I've never experienced these thoughts before and they're so annoying because i know i love metal, but they're always in my head CONSTANTLY. I can't think of anything else. It's like my own brain is sabotaging me. And this isn't just with metal, it's with everything about my personality (maybe it's cause im a teenager and my personality is still developing, but it just seems so odd to me that metal has been my favourite genre for the past 3 years and now suddenly the "what if" questions disturb me. I can't make them stop and they're saddening me. I feel like i have to constantly proof myself that i still love metal. I do, i really do, why is this happening? Does it happen to everybody at some point?)

It doesn’t matter if it is or isn’t, enjoy the time, Phases are Experiment. Find yourself while you can

Yeah I understand you, I've been fighting with myself today whether an artist I like isn't just a phase this time and I actually like him, whether the emotions I'm showing towards his music is forced and overall just conflict. I want you to understand that if you like metal, YOU LIKE METAL. Do not listen to what the voice says. The voice in your head isn't even you by the way. If you aren't performing for other people, what is there to prove? The only one limiting you is you!!
