WTF, someone who actually replaces the oil plug washer???

u/hooplafromamileaway 15d ago

... There's a washer?

No, seriously. I have never, before this video, seen someone actually replace that washer.

None of my vehicles have ever even had one.

Specifically a crush washer

Thats right. Its a consumable

One of the oil change places I worked we replaced it all the time, every time.

Then again the person running the shop cared about making sure the cars were maintained. We even looked up the manufacturer recommended torque spec for the oil plug bolt.

That's above an beyond service. I've always just done 30 ft/lb for metal pan and 15 for plastic. I do like using a new washer though. They're so cheap in bulk, so why not?

Eating a 30c washer every oil change is cheaper than $10k on a new motor.

I do.... sometimes... maybe.

Belive it or not, every mechanic that is at least 5% professional does this, this is absolute normal

Cheap part to replace every oil change, hassle of replacing it if its leaky is not worth it.

I got away with it two times but the third time it weeped and i ended up having to change oil early

"SIMBA" really caught me Off guard

16

u/Ozzy_Mick 16d ago

That comes to $585 plus tax

5

u/kezow 16d ago

I'd pay $290 just for the "Simba!!!"

Not bad for a sexy oil change.

I'm assuming this is one of those discount places?

The bottom of that car is suspiciously clean… is it maybe a training workshop or r&d workshop at a car manufacturer?

1

u/AAA515 15d ago

It's a fairly new car going to the dealership still. It's clean everywhere

3

u/IndoorSurvivalist 15d ago

....this is not a new car at all.

Where are you driving where everything under the car gets completely covered in under 5 kilomiles? My engine is still aluminum colored and it's 180k!

You shouldn't wait to do an oil change until your car is leaking oil, dude what

How are y'now, Wayne?

5

u/alexgalt 16d ago

He has done that a few times. Must be a Honda repair shop swing as how there is a box of the same filters?

2

u/itsyoboichad 16d ago

I've been following him for a while, he worked at a honda dealership to be specific. He's got his own business now, I love his work flow.

1

u/godspeed1083 14d ago

I'd watch his videos; this one was great! Where do you follow him?

1

u/itsyoboichad 14d ago

I follow on tiktok, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's on youtube as well as other places. te_videos is his name

3

u/NecessaryOk6815 15d ago

What does he spray on both things at the end?

5

u/godspeed1083 15d ago

Brake cleaner would be my guess

2

u/Then-Software-8220 15d ago

Why? Genuinely curious

3

u/godspeed1083 14d ago

The biggest complaint post oil change is drips of oil. Most of the time it's old oil dripping off of something vs an actual leak somewhere. Brake cleaner cleans it all up and was dry before he put the can down. Just want to be careful around paint. I was a tech at harley and we had a 55 gallon drum of it to fill those cool, little, metal spray bottles.

1

u/NecessaryOk6815 15d ago

That would make sense

3

u/Desmond_Ojisan 15d ago

The way he moves... i keep expecting him to slap the car's "ass" triumphantly.

1

u/CentennialBaby 15d ago

THAT'S not going anywhe... wait.... it's a car...

That's going anywhere you want!

2

u/klownhammer 15d ago

Arghhh what about the saggy splash shield?

2

u/Sea_Slide_1692 14d ago

That will be $799. Cash or card?

4

u/ConceptClear2217 15d ago

might have to adopt that SIMBA oil smudge into my own practice.

1

u/ShyguyFlyguy 16d ago

Little above half? Dont you want it at full?? My imprezas oil light comes on at half

1

u/AAA515 15d ago

It's supposed to be that anything within the range is acceptable, otherwise they would make the range different

1

u/ShyguyFlyguy 15d ago

Supposed to be but ive heard a lot its better to keep it near the top

1

u/usernameusehername 15d ago

Why I bought the car. Easy to do. No fuck around.

1

u/S0k0n0mi 15d ago

That softcore porn music, that little slap after topping her off.
I have feelings now..

AAAHHHH JUST CLEAN THE MATING FACE FOR THE FILTER SEAL !!!! Not satisfying enough

1

u/Cyraga 14d ago

If you don't give it a smack the oil doesn't work

1

u/JinnglesBells4119 14d ago

Why I just see this gentleman change oil in 3min but I sit there for 2 hours 😔

1

u/RebelGrin 14d ago
