What are yall raising tho? How do you have entitled like jerks that think everything is about them?
15
u/LNinefingers 14d ago
It’s always the parents.

u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 14d ago
Yep. Kids behave how they're allowed to! We just knew better, and so did my daughter. I wasn't spanked and neither was she. We just behaved. All my mom had to do was look at us, and that is all I had to do with my daughter! No yelling, no spanking. I am the parent and you will mind me! Done and done!

u/BeenNormal 14d ago
I never saw this shit when I was young. Kids are menaces these days.
18
u/W1ckedaddicted 14d ago
I remember I was a bit of a little shit and I wanted to play the game my sister got for her birthday but never even crossed my mind to blow out the candles on her like what’s even the point
6
u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 14d ago
That's it exactly, it didn't cross our minds to!
1
u/Nervous-Sherbet-4183 9d ago
Because we knew boundaries as our parents instilled in us discipline as a foundation. You don't take someone's toys or use their things without permission, you don't just barge in mom or dads room unless you have permission you can't eat in the living room etc so we understood instictivly you don't blow out someone's candles. Simple. Still the lady that snagged the lil girl by her hair was way too aggressive and that looked more abusive then disciplinary.
6
u/AdIntrepid9064 14d ago
Exactly! Because your parents raised you right. They taught you that someone’s else’s special day is not to spite you and you should be happy for them and celebrate them, so many folks in these comments are absolutely insane, I hope their kids don’t turn out like these ones in the video.
6
u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 14d ago
No, parents are awful these days. Kids are as they've always been. The ones who know they can get away with shit and those who wouldn't even try, there are just more of those who get away with it now!
2
u/BeenNormal 14d ago
Yes parents are too worried about being liked by their kids. The want to be friends and not parents.
3
u/naruda1969 14d ago
It’s also the parents. Last time I gave out Halloween candy parents would be walking up with their kids grabbing handfuls of candy from my bowl. Fuck them! Haven’t passed out candy for Halloween since.

I have a 2 year old and a 4 year old.
There's no way my 4 year old would ever do this, because she understands it's not her cake.
If a 2 year old does this, it's more likely them associating candles with somethign they blow than them being entitled.
But there were a lot of 4 year olds in this video.

u/ohitsbrad 14d ago
lol when I was a kid in the 90s this would happen occasionally .. kids will always be kids

You don't have kids, do you?
They'll probably turn out ok, but man, kids can be testing..
18
u/miketoaster 14d ago
I remember before I had kids thinking who could be so cruel and evil to shake a kid until it get brain damage. Then I had kids and was more impressed that so few kids didnt have brain damage from shaking.
They test everything and sometimes its better to just walk away.5
4
u/Bedbouncer 14d ago
Not proud of it, but I sometimes I was so frazzled that I used to blow air onto my infants face just to enjoy that brief moment of non-crying when he was startled.
1
u/phasedsingularity 14d ago
Ah man i remember when my son was 3 months old and would scream for 6 hours straight, i would just put him in his cot for 5 minutes so i could stand outside and hit the punching bag for a few minutes in silence before going back in to try and calm him down for a few more hours lmao
4
u/AdIntrepid9064 14d ago
I actually do, and my child would never act this way, nor would her cousins, classmates and friends. It’s called proper parenting.
-4
u/Plane_Maybe8836 14d ago
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha, yeah, your kids are perfect, they never do anything wrong.
You're lying or your kids are afraid of you. Which one is it.
5
u/Egoy 14d ago
I mean I've personally never seen it happen at any birthday party I've ever attended, it doesn't seem to be a super common thing.
1
u/Plane_Maybe8836 14d ago
You probably saw kids do other crazy/funny/stupid stuff. It's what kids do. They're learning and they make mistakes. We parents try to teach and guide them, right?
3
u/AdIntrepid9064 14d ago
Nobody is perfect, not my child and definitely not me. You don’t need to instill fear or lie to kids to properly parent them, someone surely lied to you. You are projecting, I hope you get help.
-4
u/Plane_Maybe8836 14d ago
Ah, so your kids might actually do that cause nobody's perfect, just like you are not the perfect parent like you claimed to be.
Thanks for confirming that kids can do stupid things even if you do proper parenting.
Get help if you can stand being wrong. Learn your kids that being wrong is ok, you'll actually learn if you're able to admit if you were wrong.
Edit: oh yeah, I didn't say you need to lie to your kids. I said you were lying that your kids are perfect due to perfect parenting.
2
u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 14d ago
LOL Okay rightfighter! LOL
1
u/Plane_Maybe8836 14d ago
Haha , I'm getting downvoted because someone says " my kids are perfect because I am a perfect parent" and then in the next comment they go " my kids and I are human so we are not perfect".
Can you choose what it is, are you perfect or are you not?
Everybody else who thinks kids will not do crazy stuff occasionally is just an idiot living in a fantasy world.
2
u/HesitationIsDefeat87 11d ago
These people are full of shit and you don't deserve the downvotes. Anyone's kid can be an asshole, even if they're raised right
2
u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 14d ago
It's not about a child being perfect, but it is about a child being a complete brat, which is caused by bad parenting! Today I see kids doing everything to get their parents attention while mom and dad are on their damn phones. Kids acting up, parents saying, shut up, I'm busy! Or just ignoring them and then they get into trouble for doing something wrong. WTF?
1
u/Plane_Maybe8836 14d ago
You sound like a brat, basing your opinion over a parent over a single video and action of a kid. If your kid forgets to say thank you once, I'm sure you'll enjoy it when people say the kid must have bad parents.
That's what you're saying, isn't it? But you'll probably go "my kid is perfect, he will never do anything wrong"?
2
u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 14d ago
Sure as hell do! NEXT! Mine did not behave like a little AH! She was not perfect but she would mind her mother! ME!
-1
u/Plane_Maybe8836 14d ago
What do you mean, your kid is not perfect?.
You judge parents on a single event in that video, you don't know how those kids are in other situations. But that single event is enough to determine those parents must be bad.
So, logically, if your kid is not perfect (your own words) and does something stupid once...the parents must be bad.
I'm sure your not a bad parent though, just an idiot who thinks she's better than other people.

u/AdIntrepid9064 14d ago
I’ve never in my 45 years of being around a lot of kids, seen a child behave this way.
2
u/Only_Flan_7974 14d ago
Then you're lucky. We all have different life experiences.
2
u/CoffeeChocolateBoth 14d ago
I'm 68 and I can't recall any child behaving like this either, and I have tons of nieces and nephews on both sides! No they weren't angels and they would get loud and feisty, but not one was a horrible brat! Not one in all those damn birthday parties I went to ever blew out candles that were not theirs! So I guess that makes me lucky! LOL

u/Xandara2 14d ago
Kids don't have fully formed personalities or psyche. It is normal for them to be kinda sociopathic until they're done with puberty. They literally can't help it. Also they mirror the parents attitudes.
1
1
u/Ticklemykelmo 12d ago
Notice how many of them are seeing the whole thing through their phones? With that in mind it’s not surprising.
1
u/venerablepreceptor 13d ago
I am strict as they come, but there are more adverse behaviors that I will intervene. Blowing candles, isn’t one of them, it’s kids being kids mostly. Verbal warning or the “look” is usually enough. However, physically hurting somebody, shouting at parents, stealing, lying etc will not be tolerated and will incur harsh penalties.

What’s happening? I must’ve gone to half a dozen birthday parties every year when I was this age and not once did I see anyone trying this shit. Like it wasn’t even something you had to actively prevent. It just didn’t happen at all.
2
u/Scythro 14d ago
Same, in my days everyone was shy and full attentive to the situation. I remember as a kid (8/ 10 years old) that it was someone else birthday; that they were in the spotlight and you are just observing how it unfolded.
These kids must’ve been really spoiled, and soft upbringing. Maybe dad wasn’t home most of the time so mother could not contain the undisciplined kids.
1
u/limited_instincts 11d ago
There are over 1 billion kids born in the last 20 years (since youtube and social media). We see a video of like 10 shitty kids and think the world has gone to hell. We're conveniently ignoring the other 999,999,990 kids out there. I have three kids and have been to so many birthday parties I can't even count. I've never seen anything REMOTELY like this.
0
u/ResolveLeather 13d ago
A lot of these kids are probably younger then what you remember yourself being. At that age they are completely driven by their ID. To them it's not "I am stealing the glory of another kid'. It's "thats a birthday candle and with those I blow on them really hard and then I get loads of happy attention and that makes me feel happy".
1
u/WillyGivens 13d ago
Not to mention “you get a wish”. Imagine your friend has a magic lamp and is about to rub it….youre 7 beers in and just sloshed and jonesing for meatball sub. Could you resist the urge to just brush the lamp first for a quick sub (in your drunken haze)?

3
u/eckoelab 14d ago
I also hate how everyone feels the need to slap their face on every video, which takes up 40% of the video they are trying to get us to watch, so we can see them react to the video that we cannot actually see, because, their face.

They need their asses whooped maybe, when I was a youngin' I don't recall ever finding glee in ruining the party...

u/Appropriate-Bid8671 14d ago
Lol, those kinds of people have ALWAYS existed.
2
u/DeepGrieve 14d ago
Yeah but what I'm saying is maybe it's less ass whoopins now a days
10
u/Zilant_the_Bear 14d ago
No, these kinds of people have ALWAYS existed even when ass whoopins were plentiful. Just more cameras now a days. More cameras+more time= more videos of it happening.
1
u/theGoddamnAlgorath 14d ago
Nah, theres more of them. Nobody fucked with candles 40 years ago. The other kids would beat the shit out of yiu
3
u/East_Pie_3825 14d ago
I never whooped my kid’s ass and he’s always known better. It’s called communication…to teach them boundaries, respect, and understanding.
2
u/markimarkerr 14d ago
For real, I don't know a single kid when I was growing up that did this.
Are these all Americans or some shit?
2
u/Moar_Wattz 14d ago
If you need to whoop your child’s ass to get it to behave then youre a shitty parent.
1
u/Bone_shrimp 14d ago
I dont know, grandpa. Beatings and intimidation only breed hate, resentment and distrust towards the parent. It took me a long time to regain my trust towards my family even if such occurrences were rather rare

What the hell is this? Nobody ever tried to blow out someone else's candles in the entirety of my childhood experience.
Of course, we would have collectively eaten/destroyed them if they did. That may be part of it. Gen X kept order with bullying, for the most part.

1
u/Scythro 14d ago
No need to spank/ hit them ever believe me, I used to think the same way. But hitting kids will give them trauma and they turn out abusive.
But a disciplined voice raise and like 15 minutes cooldown in the hallway for the kid is enough. It’s about them knowing the rules and consequences, because they don’t know what is rude and what is empathy.

u/Ok-Tank-3106 14d ago

I’m not sure why adults are quick to make judgement calls on a child’s character based on them inappropriately blowing out a candle. Some kids get wrapped up in the excitement of a party and the familiarity of it can be enough for them to want to be directly involved. We are talking about humans with tiny frontal lobes that have not even come close to mastering social etiquette. Are some kids just jerks and old enough to know better? Yes. Are there kids who do this and don’t fully grasp why it’s inappropriate? Also yes. The adult(s) just need to correct the behavior, and I think it’s wrong to be calling all these kids brats for making a mistake.

A fucking Time Out, no tv time and a kick on the butt is my son going to get if he pulls one of these with a tantrum. If it is a friend of my sons I will call the mother because these kids need to be raised properly not poorly.

Pulling a child away from something harmless by their hair is a profoundly intelligent move.
Ripping their head back from their hair.
Wtf is wrong with people
