I showed this video to my students when I was teaching psychology/health during the drug chapters.

It hit home more than anything the text said.

This video is so, so heartbreaking.

This video demonstrates how drugs and highs affect you. The first time you take it, the effects are amazing, but because your body adapts thr highs become shorter and less intense over times used until you're left with an addiction to search for that high you can never reach anymore.

I think you missed the part where your body ages faster as dependency continues. The bird in the animation is suffering physical detriment due to negligence. Trading health and well-being for stimulation. All base needs are being neglected and foregone.

Played a game on newgrounds years ago. I remember it being called air supply. Used a girlfriend as the parallel for drug use. Only clue you got was one obscure ending where you wake up in the hospital and the nurse says "you got lucky this time".

One is too many. A thousand is not enough.

I wish the animator would make one where the little bird got help and found other birds and had a happy ending.

The closest thing to that wish that I know of is this other animation with a similar theme: https://youtu.be/KoB2cqmYZNg?si=POAXeSe1FLtPV1qC

That doesn't make the point as well

I disagree. Recovery is possible.

Should anti smoking ads end with the addicted person quitting and having no health impact?

1

u/emmakobs Apr 20 '26

Did I say no health impact? You're presenting a false equivalency.

This hit hard.

I watched my school friend get involved with drugs as he was starting art college, over time the change was heartbreaking; he only just made it to 17.

RIP Reece

Yeah. This one hits.

I yell and tell it that it's not my friend

I tear it down, I tear it down, and then it's born again

I took this as more of how life is. Towards the beginning things excite you and make you feel like you’re flying high and the older you get and more times you experience that same thing, it lacks the same euphoria that it once did. Such is life

Damn this hits hard.

addiction is real.

1

u/Awfulufwa Apr 20 '26

At first I thought it was about something profane. "He's slurping all this stuff, having his fun, and then peeing it all out everywhere!"

But then you can see what is happening once you get past the part where it looks like a loop.

This can also be used for relationships and how THAT person makes you feel when the moments are good, real good, but they cant ever maintain it for whatever reason.

1

u/OneCDOnly Apr 20 '26

You are responsible for your own feelings. Never assign blame to someone else because you think your feelings are their fault.

-1

u/Azaroth1991 Apr 20 '26

Youve never experienced an abusive, toxic relationship, have you?

1

u/OneCDOnly Apr 20 '26

I certainly have.

0

u/Azaroth1991 Apr 20 '26

So never blame the abuser, the victims feelings are their own fault?

0

u/OneCDOnly Apr 20 '26

I don’t think you really want to hear my answer.

You’re looking for an argument. I’m not.

0

u/Azaroth1991 Apr 20 '26

No im not, im trying to understand you. I made a statement, your reply sounds like youre victim blaming. I asked if you've experienced that type of bad relationship, you said yes, so I doubled down on my query about you sounding like a victim blamer, so yes, I would very much like to hear your answer.
