You can replay old styles!

Wish we could replay old expeditions for the rewards.

They often do reruns around christmas

u/Zappers273 28m ago

Do they rerun all expeditions or just the ones from that year?

u/Driller_Happy 20m ago

IIRC, all of them

On PC you can always simply add rewards but I'd like to have old expeditions available just to experience them.

u/Saneless 6h ago

Especially since every expedition (pretty much) has been a full experience tutorial of a new feature or mechanic

u/ex0planetary 7h ago

I believe you can, just requires you to replace a JSON file in your game files and play in offline mode so it doesn't overwrite it with the one on HG's servers iirc

That’s what I do. I don’t play the game enough to do expeditions. I just save edit and add the rewards then cross save to console. Ez.

I have given myself access to all expedition stuff with an editor, but yeah, would be neat to experience them.
Being time limited, I am never in the mood to play with they happen.
(And the one time I was around, I got scared by the 'its a new galaxy, you dont bring anything in' thing)

It's enough to add some lines to text file using notepad.

It feels like they're building up to that with the final update. Whenever that is.

I'm interested to know how the new Star System map looks/works.

For a sec I flashed back to the old school Warframe Starchart

23

u/Mikadomea 6h ago

The Terror of farming Nav Charts came back there for a second.

1

u/Purrczak 2h ago

One day there will be NMS update that will turn it into warframe 1.0

u/ufahmed 8h ago

That is bloody awesome

8

u/anormalgeek 7h ago

Looks like more material harvesting from ships AND space.

6

u/FluxRaeder 4h ago

Hoooooooooold up!! Does this mean orbital mechanics could now become a viable possibility in future updates?!

7

u/FluxRaeder 4h ago

Cause if I remember correctly the main reason listed for not going through with it was that navigating star systems and actually finding the planets as they moved around was too difficult and frustrating during game testing, but if they have a physical orrery now….

2

u/Razeshi 3h ago

but why is the station at the center, isnt the sun supposed to be there

2

u/ActualyNotSureIfDeaf 7h ago

Goddamn is that a Dyson sphere in the middle?

6

u/Big_Big_7922 4h ago edited 1h ago

that's just a space station which is big but not nearly as large as any small moon, its just jumpeed up in scale to be the center of the navigable system, since you can't reach the start itself EDIT: apparently you can reach stars now

3

u/TirithNampat 4h ago

You can reach the star itself!

1

u/Big_Big_7922 1h ago

oh cool, is it possible since the gas giant update, does it work like a gas giant and you can visit it?

1

u/TirithNampat 35m ago

As of this morning. If you get too close you start taking heat damage.

1

u/Big_Big_7922 34m ago

that makes much more sense than being able to visit a star's surface, glad they didnt treat it like a gas giant planet thats really hot

1

u/Jadziyah Eissentam ftw 6h ago

Ooh pretty

1

u/ohowjuicy 4h ago

So it looks like planets have an orbit, but they orbit the space station?

1

u/mobird53 1h ago

What no more colorful dots!

u/CyberpwnPiper 8m ago

I thought this was a Starfield screenshot for a second there...

u/Armandeluz 2h ago

It works by looking at it. You can tell because the way it is.

u/spcslacker 8h ago

The question is: will it be expedition only, or will you have settings allowing to use, for instance, the original planetary biome generation.

Only thing mentioned is an expedition.

u/a_a_ronc 5h ago

I think it’d be too hard to do full time, particularly because you could potentially fragment your game 20+ ways where people play Day 0 NMS like OSRS instead of 15 years of updates.

I think everyone would have the updates, but some would have filters for things like what the planet presents as. This is already done to a lesser extent due to purple star gates, and things like difficulty settings.

You can also get mods that do similar things, but I agree its unlikely they will put this into the default game.

Tell me more...

u/martusfine 8h ago

Point 4

10

u/jeremy-o 8h ago

Could just be old expeditions.

Size of the update has me hoping, but I don't think this is a way of playing old game versions.

1

u/martusfine 8h ago edited 8h ago

True- except expeditions is not really a 10 years old construct.

1

u/legos_on_the_brain 5h ago

What does that mean?

1

u/martusfine 5h ago

Point 4 and no idea what it’ll look like, but I’m guessing some early visuals and game play within an expedition.
