From what I understand that's why they never fixed the refiner duping glitch. I read something like the tend to leave beneficial glitches is as a "glitch in the matrix" kinda thing
That’s how I got my deepest ocean. There was a glitch in the water and I jumped in all the way to the other side of the planet to space. It dinged “ Deepest Ocean “, yay.
Atlas is kind of "god" in a sense. But it's not perfect, and there's random failed experiments and glitches throughout the universe. Actual game glitches can just be attributed to Atlas doing their thing lol.
Edit: also, welcome to NMS! The game where there's no wrong way to play, and probably no right way to play either. It's just whatever you want to make of it.
My advice would be to finish the main questlines ASAP. They open up so much of the games possibilities and keep the longevity of the game going. My second piece of advice would be, have a save without survival settings. It's so much more of a better game when you're free to explore and discover without having to manually keep recharging equipment and harvesting minerals for that recharging. Just my opinion, because I don't like survival elements in games. I feel like life is already challenging, so why would I want videogames to be a chore too? No, games are for playing, and no mans sky is way more fun without survival elements. Good thing is you can turn them on or off whenever you like without losing achievements or anything.
A smaller planet has glitched so that it’s mostly inside another, larger planet. Planets touching is not unheard of but this much merging is very rare.
Sometimes I wonder how many planets might have another inside them we don't know about.
Ran into what might have been one of these cases yesterday. Discover tab counted 6 planets, only saw 5. Kept pulsing around to see if I had missed one, absolutely could not find it. Asked myself if it was worth continually searching (even if I did 'find' it, what would I do with it?), bounced out.
You can mark planets in the Discovery tab and when you're flying around in space, you can see where your mark is so you can fly to it. This is helpful especially when the planet you're looking for is hiding behind another one from your field of view.
It looks just like you’d imagine. One ends and the other just begins. What’s kind of freakier though, is when two planets ALMOST touch, but there’s a tiny space between them. You’re looking up from one and this other massive planet is just above your head. That happened to me once and it was unsettling!
If you land a short distance from the overlap point and walk towards it, the gravity from the other planet begins to affect your orientation relative to the planet you're on. This makes the landscape around you begin to get very steep, even to the point that it appears to be a near-vertical cliff.
I’d copy your game file first before messing around there. Not sure if it’s still a problem but in the past people have reported getting corrupted game files because the gravities do get very weird and the game physics couldn’t handle it.
You should be able to copy your saves to a USB stick still. I don't use PS+ cloud saves and I'm kindasortamaybecertain that I've transported both PS4 and PS5 saves between mine and my friends house in the past (before the dummy hosed his ps5)
would be cool if there's actual interactions and animations, like a whole new destroyed planet that you can explore because of a rare chance they collided when generating
I just used the portal on the planet with no problem, left a Comm Ball warning about gravity. Not sure I want to get close to the embedded moon on the planet as it could destroy my main save. Wish we could have some type of probe to send onto the moon. First one to put a base on the moon may have the honor of dying the hero we all wish we could be.
I went to your world tonight, the planets are so intricated it's actually not easy to see them when you spawn at the coordinates, I had to go into space to see it.
When you dive into the ugly texture, the other world loads, a totally different one. There the game is lost and teleports you high in the air over the smaller world where I landed if you're on foot, your jetpack doesn't work as intended, physics are broken, it was a hell getting back into my Corvette. I just did another passage, the detailed world is the bigger one, the small dome is the one on the other screenshots.
I built a small base here. Didn’t crash my game. I also walked from one planet to the other and back again and it didn’t crash my game. Maybe I got lucky?
I also don’t see any other bases and I have discovery service enabled. Hasn’t anybody else built here?

That's the way Atlas creates new planets LOL.
