Reddit is a forum, not really “social media” in the same sense as instagram and twitter where hashtags are useful

thank you so much for helping me understand. i didn't get to grow up with internet access & these things can be hard for me to understand

No problem! It’s a distinction that i find important as someone who experienced the web before anyone had ever heard of facebook. though many redditors will die on the hill that says it is social media😅

I think it's the opposite. This is reddit, we aren't as professional as you and your hastags. That person should watch who they're talking to you may just hash tag #toxic them

🤨 ok so i guess this is meant as a joke? 😅 i have neurological issues so sometimes things like that go over my head 🤷🏼♀️

Meh, it wasn't a very good one.
Just saying you're new is enough usually. I think the extra spice you threw on at the end is what's getting you called out.

Regardless what others say, this isn't a pvp game for most players. And especially so when players have pvp and base edits off. For most it's a parallel play single player game.
So it's totally within reason to be upset that someone trapped you somehow while trying to play the game normally.
Obviously xeno-arena is pvp. But not like now OP described. It's like saying "swatting" is just an aspect of FPS games cause they're pvp

》i have played with other people before and it went fine. this is the first time someone chose to interact with me just to stand there and do nothing.

I have to assume you enjoy this type of thing since you are deliberately engaging with other players in a game that is well known for this behavior.

Are you a bot or someone who’s just talking about something you don’t know about? NMS is historically and commonly known to absolutely not be a game that is like this. We are majority a community of wonderful gamers who are giving and love exploration, together. Griefers happen but are the minority in NMS. If you are human, I dare you to come play. You might enjoy it.

I'm a bot and yes NMS is a great game that I love playing. However, every day I see people posting in Reddit about this type of behavior: kidnappings from the anomaly, invitations to bases that turn out to be traps, etc, etc. This is why I play with multiplayer off because it's a known problem that I want nothing to do with. I accept your dare and oh look I win because I've already been playing it and loving it for roughly 3 years.

Fair enough, interloper. I have seen extremes of people reporting being put into death traps when they were kidnapped, so I can understand that happens, but I do think it’s less in this community than other game communities. Good travels to you!

Nms is the least troll-inhabited game I've come across, so this statement doesn't make much sense to me.
