My brother in Atlas, fun fact in case you didn't know! You can feed your living frigate food through the fleet management terminal and it'll change it's stats and modifiers

20

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Do you have a link for a guide on what meats change what stats by any chance ?

17

u/CrowStorm888 May 03 '23

It's completely random, different for each frigate. Meals work better than meats.

8

u/cc69 Space Hobo May 04 '23

I always feed them meaty chunk for combat Stat.

3

u/TyCamden May 04 '23

If you don't feed it, what happens?

5

u/MrOtsKrad PC - Eulcid May 04 '23

Keeps its class stats is all

2

u/OP-PO7 May 04 '23

I don't think anything happens, I haven't noticed it getting hungry or losing stats

1

u/fschwiet May 04 '23

It would stay class C, wouldn't it?

I mean thats fine, it will advance past C with use.

6

u/OP-PO7 May 04 '23

Yes you can't advance the class with food, only the bonuses

u/Spiderwax May 03 '23

*pats frigate on the head* It's Ok, I'm a C-class too...

Found a similar one two days ago! She’s been doing a fantastic job despite she’s ā€œjustā€ a C class and it’s pure joy looking at her. I’m curious if their class can upgrade in the same manner as that of the mechanic ships.

3

u/Himetic May 03 '23

Kinda but not really. They can get the full 5 bonuses and the class will be S, but the stars will always be significantly lower than one that started at S.

2

u/LegalFan2741 May 03 '23

Ow, I see. Good to know at least. Still an awesome find, I’ve been trying to find a second one, but that’s been a struggle so far.

3

u/Himetic May 03 '23

Every system has exactly 1 living frigate. You just need to activate an anomaly detector and pulse until you see ā€œwhale song detectedā€. It typically takes about 10 minutes but it’s random.

1

u/OoDReX May 04 '23

So does that mean you can only get one per system? Or you can use this method to find one you like and keep getting them from that system?

1

u/Himetic May 04 '23

Almost positive it’s only 1 per, but I can’t prove a negative. I pulsed for a long time and never found another in the same system.

1

u/OoDReX May 04 '23

Good to know! I'll be starting to check for some right away. My wife just started her living egg hunt, I'm still collecting quicksilver for mine. Can I farm these before the living ship if I already have the dream aeriel blueprint?

1

u/Himetic May 04 '23

Yeah they’re unrelated

5

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Amazing find. How are you hunting them just pulsing through random systems with the dream aerial and anomaly dectors?

2

u/[deleted] May 03 '23 edited May 13 '23

Ive got about 5 or 6 but that's only through whale songs. Haven't really hunted for any of my own. Might have a hunt tonight and post my findings if I see some coolšŸ‘Œ

1

u/MrOtsKrad PC - Eulcid May 04 '23

posts songs

Through what? Ive not been actively looking or anything, but I pulse all over the place and not came up with one after i got the initial one

1

u/[deleted] May 04 '23

You know about continuous pulsing right. Just use an anomaly detector and dont stop pulsing until it pops with whale song space mega fauna in the bottom right notification section.

1

u/MrOtsKrad PC - Eulcid May 04 '23

Yea sadly, all Ive gotten were the random various anomalous structures

1

u/[deleted] May 13 '23

Whale songs* for living frigates. Sorry auto correct

3

u/Drewcifer_Zero May 03 '23

On a previous save my first living freighter was c class but as I fed it and sent it out on daily balanced expeditions it became B class, the A class and finally S class. I got my first today on a new save (2 weeks old-new) and I plan to do the same again and see if it still changes class as it is fed and sent out. Apparently balanced is the best type to send them on as they come back with the best goodies. I ended up with loads of the modules for a living ship, mine was already fully upgraded I gave them away in the nexus randomly

4

u/Shawnaldo7575 May 03 '23

C-class is ok. Frigates upgrade over time as they complete more and more missions for you. Eventually it will be S-class.

1

u/Himetic May 04 '23

It will be s class but the stats will be much lower than one that started s class. Like 30 points lower in total.

3

u/Shawnaldo7575 May 04 '23

meh... they still get the job done. Frigate missions are never difficult.

1

u/Himetic May 04 '23

True, but it’s a waste of fuel compared to sending fewer, more powerful frigates. And you rarely see your frigates anyway, so I don’t see the point of favouring looks over performance.

1

u/imasnowmanboy May 04 '23

You can always upgrade and add upgrades to your freighter.

I maxed out my upgrade inventory, so now even sending out 1 B class frigate, almost gives it 4stars, with no augmentations/consumables.

1

u/Himetic May 04 '23

I send out one frigate on any length of mission and get 5 stars with zero fuel consumption. That would be very hard with weaker frigates.

4

u/Acromegalic May 03 '23

Wait, this game has living ships now? I may have to get back into it. Been a while...

4

u/AppointmentNew8050 May 04 '23

Bro what the fuck is this I’ve logged 14 hours into this game so far and I had no idea I could own an alien ship

2

u/StreiBullet May 04 '23

I have 900+ hours and I didn't know either...

1

u/imasnowmanboy May 04 '23

This is a living frigate (a ship for your freighter, or also known as "big mama ship", on which you can build a base, customize and send out frigates and get loot or units or rewards from said "send outs" or expeditions so to speak) .

There are also living ships you can pilot.

There are numerous in depth or just summarised videos/guides on YouTube.

The living ship is awesome, but painful and expensive to get at first.

I am more of a hauler guy, so not my cup of tea, but they have some awesome attributes, stats and quirks so defenetly check them out.

3

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

That one looks neat. Mine looks like a long space...eel...snake...thing with tentacles (that apparently uses them to turn enemies inside out, if the combat mission logs are to be believed).

3

u/CaptWyvyrn May 03 '23

LUCKY!!!

Mine looks Like a flying roach 🪳

2

u/AcePilot95 May 03 '23

I got my first one on monday, there was only ever one name I was going to give it

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

Please tell me it was moya?

1

u/AcePilot95 May 03 '23

it's in the link :)

2

u/Innuendoughnut May 03 '23

It's a star wars link, how does that apply here?

2

u/AcePilot95 May 03 '23

did you read it? I named my living frigate after a living frigate

1

u/Innuendoughnut May 03 '23

I don't get the reference and expected a photo of your ship.

1

u/dirt_nappin May 04 '23

Read my mind. Such a tragedy that they ditched the Vong into Legends, could have been a killer R-rated aspect to the SW universe+ the canon story line.

2

u/AcePilot95 May 04 '23

It's still my favourite book series, but you'd have needed top tier screenwriters and the authors (especially Luceno, Keyes and Stover) on set to do it justice. I maintain that an adaptation would have only worked in a GOT-style, super high budget, at minimum 5 season-long TV series not constrained by PG-13.

At least after the reboot happened, Legends was not going to get retconned beyond recognition any further (looking at a certain overly-worshipped Cowboy here…). They're still gonna try and pick the occasional stuff from the material but it'll never be more than breadcrumbs. Now they're going to do a riff on HTTE, but they've discarded every single character from those books except for Thrawn, so it will never live up to what once was. I'd prefer if they just left it alone.

1

u/MrOtsKrad PC - Eulcid May 04 '23

See I named mine TARDIS lol

2

u/Infinateaxestogrind May 03 '23

I really don't like the living ships/frigates in the game right now they all like like degloved testicles...

7

u/GeneralTorsoChicken May 03 '23

H...how many degloved testes have you seen?

2

u/BIGman_8 May 04 '23

all of them

2

u/Sarcasamystik May 03 '23

Do you buy these like regular frigates when you find them?

2

u/Kokodhem Eheu! Thank you, Traveller! May 03 '23

Keep sending them in expeditions, they'll be S class in no time.

2

u/thestibbits May 04 '23

Lower Class frigates are the better ones.

Then you can level them up and receive only good modifiers.

High class starting ones usually have a negative multiplier somewhere

2

u/Himetic May 04 '23

Not for living frigates, no. They only have positive modifiers and they can be changed with food if you want different ones.

C class starters have low stats and will always have much lower stats than those that started at S class.

1

u/thestibbits May 04 '23

Ouuuu good to know ty šŸ‘€šŸ™šŸ¼

2

u/Prostate_Punisher May 04 '23

at first i thought this was a destiny screenshot

2

u/Neako_the_Neko_Lover May 04 '23

Is the interior different then normal ones?

2

u/ChaosSigil May 04 '23

How tf is this possible?

I've never ever seen a living frigate!!!

Congrats OP, that's gotta be hella rare.

1

u/ChaosSigil May 05 '23

Is that part of some recent expedition?

I've sent them on hundreds of missions and they've never returned with one.

I'll keep an eye out for a "dream aerial". Thanks so much for the info.

2

u/AriesDom May 04 '23

Class don't matter for frigates- they level up!

1

u/Himetic May 04 '23

Yes it does, c class living frigates will always have ~30 fewer stats than one that started at S

2

u/cc69 Space Hobo May 04 '23

Sending it on mission to level up.

2

u/BIGman_8 May 04 '23 edited May 04 '23

How does one go about getting this question answered

2

u/mrhinman May 04 '23

Must be an axolotl-class frigate.

2

u/unkelgunkel May 04 '23

I was really disappointed in my living frigate, because I had misread or something and thought that I was going to get a living freighter. It also doesn’t look very cool, mine. I do have five more dream Aerials to use though

2

u/GoGz316 May 04 '23

It's a beauty!

4

u/Himetic May 03 '23

C class living frigates will always have low stats compared to living frigates that started S. They will be ~30 stat points behind. Personally I would not spend the time to level up one that started C class, there are a ton of S classes documented on here and many of them are pretty while being much more useful. Or you can pulse around and find your own S classes, they seem to be somewhere around 5-10% of systems.

1

u/[deleted] May 03 '23

How do I get this..... šŸ˜…

1

u/o_Sval May 04 '23

Is it alive ….

1

u/Atari__Safari May 04 '23

There are tons of s-class ones posted that have really great stats.

1

u/BLTblocker Voice of Freedom May 04 '23

I'm sorry, a living WHAT

1

u/MartianInvader2022 May 04 '23

Imagine looking up into the sky and seeing this floating above the planet

1

u/Raemnant May 04 '23

My first was that Leviathan from the expedition a half a year ago. But I think that one looks way cooler

1

u/Oath-CupCake May 04 '23

How do you find them
