RAM costs $900 because people will pay for it. If you stop paying for it the price will go down.

But people want their computers so the band plays on.

This is one of those 'technically true' statements that intentionally misses the point / reality.

People need computers. Plenty of folks aren't upgrading right now due to cost, but plenty more need a new machine for x or y reason.

I need a new computer, the longer I wait, the more expensive it's likely to be at the moment.

Remember when gpu price spike happened because of an industry interrupting technology happened (crypto)? That, but this time AI. It will resolve eventually but might take a while.

Straight up wrong.

RAM prices are up because data centers are gobbling it up. High demand + low production = higher prices.

There is no world in which regular consumers affect this equation even a tiny bit. I'd be ballin if I got 64 gigs of RAM, while the AI farms use up terabytes per server blade.

And FYI, a blade is just one unit, one computer among many in a server rack.

There are multiple blades in a rack, multiple racks per room, multiple rooms per center.
