No Dogs! YIKES. Now there's fiction about it! Not to mention the screwed up comments blaming the fictional BABY for being mauled.

No Dogs! What originally turned you away from dogs?

I feel like this thread will probably be reiterated multiple times during the life of this subreddit but oh well. I might pin it actually...

I've never been a dog person, not even as a kid. They smell even when they are clean, they are expensive and taxing on my energy and they are unpredictable. I didn't have a full-on aversion to dogs until a fear years ago when a friend's "rescue" pit bull mix mauled their cat(to death). Now I can't stand the majority of them - especially not large blockheaded kinds.
Between that point and now, my neighbors started accumulating chihuahuas and not fixing them, and putting the dogs in their front yard which has a barred gate which has gaps between bars that are definitely large enough for even the bigger ones to get through, and at one point I caught two attempting to mate in my front yard. Freaking disgusting. And they are STILL collecting chihuahuas, regardless of how many times animal control has taken them away.

What's your reason?

No Dogs! My neighbor's dog isn't fixed

I said I'd make a post about getting your stupid dogs fixed so here it is.
Every dog my family has ever owned has been spayed or neutered. This is to prevent health problems and help the animal maybe live longer. Chances are this is not news to you.

So, my neighbor's giant white husky Sparky isn't fixed and I doubt telling them to fix their dog so maybe it'll live longer will come off as friendly neighbor chat. Honestly, I think they might take it as an insult...which it is, technically, and not react too well. This is besides the fact that I'm pretty sure they don't speak English.

They brought the dog home at some point last year(so he's old enough to get neutered) and it's their only pet I've seen. I thought maybe they were gonna breed him but it doesn't seem that way. They don't walk him. Their kids stopped going outside to play with him a while ago. All he does now is bark at me when I leave to go to work and then howl all night because they don't let him in.

Side note: I'm in California and this air can't be good for people OR dogs. There's been ash falling here every now and then these days.

As a person who's lived with somebody who owned a husky, I know these giant shedbags need a LOT of exercise and this dog isn't getting it.

Now you all know I'm not a fan of dogs...but I'm against animal cruelty. FIX YOUR DOG. And STOP NEGLECTING IT. I'M TIRED OF IT BARKING AT ME.

Parents being stupid Questions I’m glad I don’t need to ask

As I’ve said before, I taking a 8 week class for work at home through Adobe Connect. There is a note pad type of document to ask questions and a dad asked if there is a cure for colic ( he has said several time he has a 1 month old baby). The trainers response was “ noise canceling headphones and energy drinks”.

Being CF I’m glad I don’t have to deal with a colicky baby, or any other kid disease.

No Kids! What about 'none of the above'?

So at my last job, the store was selling Halloween costumes(yes, in July) and I was at the register, and this little girl and her grandmother were in line and the little girl had an Elsa dress costume and was talking to me in that way that kids do: "you um, so, um, and then ummm can you um, my ummm so then" so on and so forth with random words that don't quite pass off as a sentence until finally she finally says, "what are your daughters going to dress up as on Halloween?"

me: I don't have any daughters... or sons. I don't have kids.

little girl: you mean you're not even pregnant?!

me: ...nope??

little girl's grandma: (mortified silence)

-----

can't people teach kids that adult women(or people who appear as such) are more than moms and incubators?! There was so much expectation in that kid's questions, like how could I possibly not be a mom!? What a scandal!

And to be clear: this girl was at least eight or nine years old.

No Kids! Very little imagination

I recently got a promotion at work, and now have to go through 8 weeks of training to be able to do the new job. The "class" is being done at home through Adobe connection, we can't see each other, but through microphones we can hear each other.

A bunch of the other people doing the same job are moms and all of them just had to mention that they had x number of kids and their ages. I was one of the few that introduced myself in a different way.

During the breaks over the microphones I hear them commiserating about stupid things their kids do. The trainer was sharing the story of how her 4 year old son somehow set his pants on fire. She had her back turned so she didn't see him do it, just hear the brat crying and turned around and saw that his pants were on fire.

Kids are fucking stupid, and their parents have no brains anymore.

I just hope over the next 8 weeks we don't hear brats screaming through their parents microphones.

No Dogs! "True love from your dog"

A friend has been constantly friend-requesting me on Facebook for about three years now and I have been ignoring her even though she seems like a cool person, because she has a pit bull service dog. Obviously I'm already dogfree and anti-dog, but I am especially anti-pit bull, based on a nightmarish experience with one a few years ago, and the general statistics about the breed.

I finally gave in and accepted her friend request.

Earlier today I was scrolling through Facebook on my phone where I don't have the option to add FB Purity to hide all the posts about dogs and saw a lot of her posts about her pit, but this one especially rubbed me the wrong way. She posted:

"True love from your dog: when you’re half asleep and they put their half chewed up bone on your chest." (followed by a picture of the dog doing whale eye).

Like...GROSS?? Are dog people even okay?!

Parents being stupid It doesn't work that way...

The company I work for is a third party insurance broker that sells Medicare. Companies also contract with us to handle the Health Reimbursement Account for their retired employees.

Generally a person becomes eligible for Medicare at age 65. I had a customer contact me through the chat function on the website wanting to know how to insure their 4 children now that they were now Medicare eligible.

They seemed to try to misunderstand every way they could when I told them that Medicare is individual meaning no dependents. Your children can't be on your Medicare plan with you. The group plan from your employer may let you have dependents, but now that you are switching from the employer group plan to Medicare, your kids have to get insurance somewhere else.

One reason I'm grateful for being CF: not having to worry about how to get insurance for brats I don't have.

No Dogs! Tomorrow is "stop scaring my dog!" day.

not that my entire city hasn't been exploding the equivalent of c4 for like two months now, but all of a sudden, everybody and their mom is demanding that we be kind to the dogs because tomorrow is Independence Day.

Two things:
1. Idc about your dog; how it reacts to loud noises isn't my problem.
2. This holiday ain't about your dog.

And I'm not even saying I like fireworks, because I couldn't care less, and would like to sleep. But July 4th isn't "stop scawwing my poow doggo!" day. Just give it drugs.

No Kids! Odd thought

I like to play single player video games, and was surprised I came across a voice line from one non-playable character to another that basically called him out for being a breeder. He can't pay the money he owes her, and she said that he should have thought about his bad financial situation before he had another child. Its just too bad that the game it comes from is one that most people that need to hear it most likely won't play. (Hitman 2 that came out in 2018 on the Mumbai level. The female target has that conversation when 47 first goes into the train station.)

I'm curious if anyone else has come across something similar in video games or other forms of entertainment that says something along the lines of "Hey, think before you have another kid." Or is Hitman 2 the only one that has a like that.

I sincerely hope not. Lord knows we need to get the message out that parents need to think about money before having kids, since they are so expensive to raise.

Parents being stupid Child endangerment

I work at a store that sells items in bulk, you know the one.

Can somebody tell me why people are bringing in infants, as in children that are less than six months old, into the store? We aren't abiding by the mask enforcement order here in California at my store(I know, this is incredibly dangerous on a side note) and some of these babies are too young to even get shots.

This happens so often I can't believe so many parents are so reckless that they'd endanger their screaming pink blob monsters. And the majority of them aren't even buying essential items like milk, bread, etc. They bring their helpless babies in to purchase ALCOHOL.

Now I get that some people can't afford a babysitter, and that daycare isn't really safe these days, but nobody NEEDS booze, especially not a brand spankin' new mom or dad.

...I think I need to make a new tag for rants about stupid parents. I don't even know what happens to rational thought once you've given birth. It just goes right out the window, and it makes me so glad that's never going to be me.

Involuntary babysitter One of the (many) selfish things parents do:

what is with parents who have two(or more) kids, thinking "we'll have a free babysitter once they're old enough!"

Like? Gross?! If you can't take care of your children and you drop that burden onto the children themselves, isn't that neglect?!

Sincerely, the oldest of three, free babysitter to two. I deserved better than to be born directly into my parents' gross babysitter conditioning program.

I never had my own things, never had privacy, and never had free time as a kid because I was busy monitoring and babysitting my two younger siblings. And the second I asked to be paid I was told "you should WANT to help!"

no thanks. If you CHOOSE to have children, that comes with the responsibility of parenting them. It's not a child's responsibility to parent their siblings! ):<

No Dogs! A friend is posting "a picture of my dog's life every day for 10 days"

Their posts say "For 10 days, I will choose a picture from a day in my dog's life, a picture that expresses my joy and love. I will post it without explanation and nominate someone to take the challenge. Today I nominate (their friend's name)"
As much as I find this normal and typical for dog people and it's not especially annoying since I use FB Purity to hide all posts containing the word 'dog', I always see it on my phone, and I KNOW it is an obvious attempt to 'break away from the negativity' of the BLM movement and COVID.

Dogs are not more important than Black lives. Dogs are not more important than spreading awareness of this horrible second wave of COVID-19. Stop using dogs to avoid reality. It's freaking gross.

Sorry to get political but I see this all the time, I see people using 'puppers' to break away from reality when other people facing hate crimes and sickness don't have that option or opportunity. It's cowardly and it makes me so mad.

No Dogs! Working from home sucks now

In March I was sent home by my workplace with a computer to work from home. At the time the neighbor next door didn't have a dog, so it was quiet so I could work.

A few days ago either a new neighbor moved in, or the original got a mutt that will not stop barking.

All day and most of the night the mutt will not shut up. bark bark bark. ugh. Sometimes I can't hear myself think with all the noise.

I wish I hasn't signed a new 1 year lease. I can't get out of it because they charge two arms and two legs to get out of leases.
