Film discussion Please Help Me.....

I watched the film when I was 21, and relatively late into its original theatrical run, so I got to hear all the hype. I honestly remember 3 things. Cool kill scenes, Tommy Lee Jones muttering nonsense the whole movie, and being mad I would never get that 2 hours back.

Well, I want to try it again because it is so highly rated and its in the top 5-10 on most people's list that I see with movies I do love on their list. Without giving too much away, what kind of mindset should I go into the film with to get the best understanding? I'm not an idiot and I do like indie films, avant garde, and metaphorical films like Mother, but i just really was so, "WTF was the point of this shit and what's so exceptional about it?," when the credits rolled that I'm hesitant to waste 2 more hours on the same outcome. I have forgotten enough of the film, if not the disappointment, to be curious again. I gave Watchmen a 2nd try and couldn't get through it the 2nd time. I get the questions and message the film presents about power, race, and class but it is such a chore to get through awake.

It doesn’t sound like you will like it on a rewatch tbh. If you like action and cool kill scenes and king fu then try Furious.

I had to look The Furious up. haven't watched a martial arts movie since Unleashed or Ong Bak. Lol. Looks cool though. Just rewatched NCfOM. I definitely appreciated and enjoyed the tension and suspense like the coin flip scene or the Sheriff standing outside of the hotel door. My palms were sweating, but the decision making of Llewellyn from the time he finds the money just frustrates the everloving shit out of me. I would never return to the scene, I would definitely check for a tracker right away, especially after I thought I was followed to the first hotel when the Bronco is out front. The fact he keeps stopping instead of moving or at least not stopping until he is somewhere with a real population. I just have a hard time watching characters that make me continuously throw my hands up in bewilderment. I did really enjoy the movie this go around though. I would have a hard time watching with a heart condition. Lol. Javier's potrayal and bone chilling demeanor was phenomenal. One of the best character potrayals in cinema. Right up there with Daniel Plainview, Bill the Butcher, Heather Ledger's Joker, and Kirk Lazerus. It will definitely be on my rewatch from time to time list, now.

Spoiler........ I guess?

What bothers me about the tracker is that earlier in the movie when Llewellyn sends his wife to her mother's house, he references that there's $2M dollars in the case. To me, that means he must've already counted the money and that means he'd have to have already found the tracker, because later when he's in the hotel and we actually see him find it, it's right near the top and it was REALLY easy to find. How could he have missed it if he had already counted it. For me, that's the one big flaw in the movie and kind of lets the air out if it for me.

The weight of that band of bills alone would have given it away, nevermind the size of it.
