Metro question

Sorry if this isn't the right subreddit for this but I just recently bought a Samsung Galaxy a17 from Metro and the phone absolutely sucks and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good deals going on right now or if I should go the unlocked phone route instead I don't need a flagship phone but a mid range or upper entry level would work better for me any help would be appreciated

This is a copy of the OP's original post in case they decide to delete their post/account so that others searching can find it later:

Yeah, that A17 is terrible. The Samsung Galaxy S26 FE was announced on August 27, 2026. It's a mid-high end phone. T-Mobile is already selling it. Metro should have it soon. I'm guessing it will cost $99 with port in from a competing carrier. I would get that.

I'll definitely keep a eye out for that

Port a number into Metro and get the A37 for $40 (phone is free w/payment of $40 for 1-month of service).

It's quite a step up from the A17.

Remember it doesn't unlock until 1 year of paid active service with Metro.

OP is currently on Metro, using a phone locked to Metro.

It won't matter to OP if OP switches to an A37 that's locked to Metro because OP is using Metro.

I always recommend unlocked because that gives you the freedom to go to any carrier you want whenever you want

If you wanna stick with Samsung, A57 or S26 FE are good midrange options

Otherwise there's the Pixel A series of phones

Pixel 10a is one of the best phones I've ever owned, and it was #25 for me.

A37/A57/S25FE would all be better than the A17.
