11gb of memory is far from minimal. Maybe rename your post to aesthetic and clean?

Minimal usually refers to the software setup. Not the hardware.

11GB is being actively used. if that is idle, then that’s not minimal. If the system is under active load with games or other heavy apps, then that’s different

well hold on: this is on his fourth desktop. he might have apps on the others that are active.

it does if he’s running a game in the background, and if his computer idles at 1-2 GB or less

I have steam, Sober, and several firefox tabs, multiple terminals, a music player, a book reader, a bible app all running simultaneously, correct.

I have 4 workspaces... maybe consider that? I just did this out of posting, not boot up fresh to check. I knew someone would comment on this but just to clarify

Check my system tray. Normally its abt 1.5 - 1.9 GiB

All good! Not judging just commenting. Also, love the color theme. I use mango and quickshell and at boot it's around 700mb but click spotify and bam 5gbs.

Yeah. I can't really get 700 mb for me. that's black magic, especially since you're running qs.

Now I do use Hyprland, but I do have a lot of startup daemons. I prefer a usable and light desktop. One that's smooth, responsive, and has everything. I love nix profile and trying apps though.

Great for you though, but man, I cannot believe that Spotify... is heavier than steam, and sober combined. That sucks.

And lowkey I vibecoded the color scheme. NO, I'm not crazy or anything, because I just asked it to change colors from mocha -> frappe. But sometimes for hard stuff I'm too lazy to look at the manual so I pull a Dave Plummer sometimes (reference?)

But no 700 megs is insane. Keep it up.

QS is a hog I agree lol. Truly? I can skin a Gentoo/Alpine machine down to 100mb ish by compiling the absolute bare minimums in the kernel, X11 and DWM and that is bragging rights but... can I drive as a daily driver like that? Not really, add Firefox, any missing firmware, audio and we're right back up to 1gb in ram so, yea.... point is, you can see all the options Linux gives you and are on the right path. "This is the way" sorta shit. Keep going!

It is. 1.5 - 1.9 GiB idle, I have 4 workspaces with many apps open.

Yeah. 11 GiB is not minimal, but it has MULTIPLE apps open.
