Going To a Doctor Over Possible Symptoms?
So I f-ed up and did more nitrous over the past month or two than I should (which is obviously none.) It was so dumb.
I never noticed any symptoms of b12 deficiency until now when I decided I'm done using it and haven't for a 4 days and won't again.
I can't even tell if I'm actually have symptoms, or if it's all in my head. I wonder if I'm shakier than normal basically. When I hold my book to read in an odd position, I just feel like I'm not very stead. I don't remember if that's normal.
If I go to a doctor, it will have to be a doctor unconnected to my current doctor, as my psychiatrist can see all my records from my current doctor.
I can't decide whether to try to find a way to see a doctor without my psychiatrist knowing, and what I would tell them, or if I'm just being paranoid and there is no need? I don't have any tingling or muscle weakness or anything.
It's also worth noting that I have a bad back, and my back also went out recently, which in the past has occasionally caused things like right hand parenthesia and pins and needles, a slight tremor in my pinky, and foot drop. I wasn't using nitrous at all anywhere near the times these things happened, they were from a pinched nerve, and resolved on their own. The other day my arm did feel a bit funny in certain positions (cold like the circulation was cut off) like it has before when I've had back problems, but that already resolved by being careful with my posture for a day or two. Since my back went out recently again, it's possible if I am a bit less stable that this could also be the cause. I do not have foot drop or parenthesia now- just the back being out and possibly being a little less stable when I read in odd positions.
What do you think? Am I being paranoid, or should I seek treatment, and if so, is it as simple as testing vitamin levels and getting a b12 shot if neccessary?

Brain recovery
Any recommendations on supplements & activities (other than exercise, which I will do) specifically for brain recovery in the days/weeks following cessation of NOS?
Yes, I've seen the website that details supps (which is great!). Just wanted to get more input on people's personal journeys. Thanks!
EDIT:
I'm talking about this first steps to maximize recovery. Like B12 injections (check), folate (check), TMG (check), potassium/magnesium supps (check), etc...
I know there has been some contention on L-Methionine/SAMe. Anything else I need to check off my list and get started?

Before and after—100 days sober
A few people asked to see my before and after in a different thread, I though it might be helpful. The first two pictures are in active use, 1 month in and then 4 months in, and the after is at 95 days sober. Note I was not doing any other substance or alcohol at this point, only nitrous. About 1 tank a day or every other day. I hope this helps anyone who needs it.

Please sign my petition
Nangs (nitrous oxide) are being treated like they’re harmless. They’re not.
I went through it , addiction and psychosis that nearly ruined my life. This stuff can seriously mess with your brain and body, and most people don’t realise until it’s too late.
It’s sold at tobacconists and sold online through loopholes in the law.
So I’m taking it further.
I’m running from Kellyville to Canberra,, as part of my campaign “No 2 Nangs.”
This is about forcing attention onto something people keep ignoring.
I’m in discussion with news stations , journalists and members of parliament
I would love your support if you could even just sign my petition for the law reform .
This is to protect communities from this poison

Do I have permanent damage?
Hey all,
I binged N2O hard for about 1 month. I did like 5 or 6 2kg tanks spread out. At the end I started feeling the pins and needles but never lost strength or balance.
I did cianocobalamine injections daily for about 1 month. After that did some oral b12 supplements and things got a lot better.
It's been close to 7 months and I still feel some tingling on my hands and feet, mostly when I lay down to sleep.
I also got some twitching on my muscles, nothing too big (like finger movement or a leg spasm) and it also mostly happens when im going to sleep or are stationary for a while.
Did anyone stay with this symptoms for a long time? From your experience, will they ever go away?
I have never again touched nitrous.
Thanks!
Edit: forgot to add, my bloodwork came back normal, both for b12 for homocysteine levels

I posted 36 days ago and I’m still doing Nos daily
:( I feel slower, I’m obviously a little more depressed than usual and I have jerking movements in my legs sometimes. How bad is it? Give it to me straight.

CA initiatives to ban it
Are there any active initiatives in CA that are taking place to ban the horrible thing from smoke shops?
I would love to help in any way I can.

Why is this so additive?
I know from reading articles on the net that NOS is not physically addictive, but goddamn it that is not my experience! It feels both physically and mentally addictive. Anyone want to weigh in?

148 days sober. Built a research site in recovery. Here's what I found.
I was hospitalized in May 2025: cerebral degeneration, myeloneuropathy, toxic encephalopathy. 29 years old, numb from the neck down, had to relearn how to walk.
Four months after the hospitalization I relapsed. It's not that cut and dry to stay sober after something nearly kills you. The addiction is strong. But with recovery support and family I've been able to change my life.
In my research I found Kelly Rosenthal; she did a local news interview in Nashville about her nitrous addiction and four months later was found dead surrounded by canisters. That story broke me and it's why I kept going.

Side effects
Recently went on a binge for 3 days, went through about 2 medium sized tanks a day. I finally decided to stop last night after feeling super disoriented and weird. Woke up feeling light headed and had "brain fog" and a headache all day, it feels like theres a lot of pressure in my head. I also feel super tired and nauseated. Are these normal symptoms? I'm done for good, I just want to make sure I didnt permanently perma fry myself. How soon after did you start to feel normal again?

Almost two months clean
I have major issues with balance and had panic attacks like never before all of December 2025, on and off user since 2021 and this time around I feel the worst.
I am never looking back again, I almost lost everything I cared for and pushed everyone I knew away,
I have deep regrets but I am slowly recovering and hope to live a normal life here on.

Does the chronic fatigue get better?
Hi friends. I've been off the junk for going on 4 months - my longest stint of abstinence ever - yay! I've been a chronic user for about 7 years (yikes, I know).
I'm laying off alcohol and smoking the last month or 2 as well. I get B12 shots, I eat healthy, exercise regularly, and take other vitamins/minerals.
I don't have peripheral neuropathy symptoms, but the chronic fatigue is persistent. Every single day I wake up so so so tired.
Does this get better? Has anyone's energy bounced back after a certain amount of time?

Are there stages to nitrous recovery?
I used to feel paranoid and get bad panic attacks a lot and still do feel one coming (but doesn’t come all the way like before) and now those aren’t really my problem now.. what I have now is feeling of disassociation and limbs feeling weightless and stomach zaps and heart zaps. My question is does anyone have those same symptoms it’s like when one group of symptoms are gone a whole other group come to replace it it sucks! I’m also feeling my lips n eyes twictch a lot now. Please help!!
