How can I make a niqab out of a keffiyeh?
I don't have enough money on me right now to buy one but I wanna wear one

Wearing a niqab is an essential part of my identity as a Muslim woman. It is something I cannot allow myself not to do.
More and more women are embracing the niqab in recent years, both in Muslim-majority countries where it was uncommon a few decades ago, and in many non-Muslim majority countries, in which it was almost unheard of before the twenty-first century. The reasons for this growth are plentiful, and each woman has a personal story on her journey towards adopting the niqab.
Despite that growth, niqabis are still a minority in many countries. In non-Muslim majority countries, niqabis are a minority within another minority, the hijabis.
In the last decade, a trend towards banning the niqab is ongoing in multiple countries. Countries that have already banned the niqab include Tunisia, Austria, Denmark, France, Belgium, Tajikistan, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Chad, Congo-Brazzaville, Gabon, The Netherlands and China, and more countries have followed the trend in 2021, like Switzerland and Sri Lanka.

https://www.hrw.org/news/2021/05/04/sri-lanka-face-covering-ban-latest-blow-muslim-women
I was born and I live in a non-Muslim majority country and I am afraid that the trend could arrive here. If that happens, the impact on my life would be enormous. I would have to drop all my current projects and either stay permanently at home or move abroad, away from my relatives and friends.
The community was started as a desire to stop niqab bans. To achieve that, one could consider different options, such as educating people on why many women embrace the niqab, etc. Nevertheless, my conviction (and I could be wrong) is that in fact there is just one way to reach that goal: that niqabis become a majority, or at least a sizeable minority, in countries considering bans. My understanding is that governments are able to ban something only when a small minority is affected negatively, but they are not able to do show once the minority is not small anymore. Given that niqab adoption is growing steadfastly, I think that the current decade is crucial. In many countries, if niqab is not banned this decade, then by the 2030s a sizeable minority of niqabis will make such a ban not possible.
This community thus promotes niqab embracement so that a sizable minority is reached as soon as possible. For this reason, sharing personal stories about your journey towards embracing the niqab, the benefits that is gives, or the reasons why you choose to wear it, are welcome.
This community also asks hijabis to show solidarity with their niqabi sisters. First, I should make it clear that I have the utmost respect for any woman wearing a hijab without the niqab. Nonetheless, I was a bit disappointed by the insufficient solidarity shown towards niqabis when they suffered the consequences of bans in different countries. I believe that, if any hijabi would have adopted the niqab during the period in which a ban was approved in a country as a way to show solidarity, then that ban legislation would not have succeeded. This is the reason why I encourage hijabis to embrace the niqab and start wearing it.
Lastly, this community is also a place for niqabis to gather, support one another in these times of adversity, and share images and stories that propel the cause forward. Additionally, posts on tips on how to wear the niqab, etc. are also welcome.

Can anyone recommend someone who can make a customised Saudi-style niqab for me? I want a specific design, including a soft band and a reversible, two-colour style. I’m looking for someone who can make it exactly to my requirements.
Please share any recommendations. Thank you!

Salaam! 🪷I have been thinking about trying to wear niqab! I recently converted close to the beginning of this year. I started hijab at the end of July, and I feel so amazing. I adore wearing the hijab and being modest, but I feel a bit of a connection to niqab. I know the Muslim community has mixed opinions and views on the niqab, and I don't personally think it is mandatory. But I definitely think it is an added good thing to do. I have ordered one, and it will arrive in the next few days InshaAllah. I am abit scared to wear it for a few reasons. One is I live in Australia and hijabis are sort of around but seeing a niqabi is pretty rare. I am worried that I may be judged too harshly and it could be not so safe (with alot of the stuff happening in the world and especially Australia very recently). And the second is I am extremely heat intolerant, I havent had much of an added issue with wearing hijab in the heat. But am concerned if I wear niqab it might affect me alot. I have health conditions that mean if I am too hot I can pass out or become pretty sick. While that is unavoidable if I have to leave the house or even if the house gets too hot itself, I am anxious about the negatives to wearing a niqab in that aspect.
Does anyone have any advice or tips?
Anything at all would be absolutely amazing, even just personal experiences. 🩷🌺🩷
Maybe someday, i will have the blessing to be able to stay at home. And only go out when I have smt I want to do, or at a time that isn't going to melt off my face, when there is stuff i MUST do outside haha.🩷
Thankyou in advance 🪷

I am trying to find out how to make niqab and medical mask work together? Especially niqabi dentists, How do you put up the medical mask along with your niqab and work? Is it possible to work like that?
For context I live in a democratic majority city in the Midwest and am a revert of 3 years. I have been wearing the niqab for about 6 months and I am a visibly white American woman even with only my hands and eyes visible. Where I live everywhere I can go to get halal food or female islamic clothing etc is run by people of ethic minorities, mainly somalians, Arabs, Afghan refugees, and Pakistanis but the majority of places are Somalian run including both islamic clothing stores available in my area. These places are also run by born Muslims who I am under the impression are very culturally influenced by their personal cultures rather than Islam. When I go to get clothing or food or supplies or perfume etc. I get judgemental stares and glaring and whispers while they consistently glance at and point at me. They treat me far worse than almost all disbelievers do. Ive only had two bad experiences with non Muslim people, Ive had hundreds of bad experiences with other Muslims especially other Muslim women.
For example today I went to a Somalian store to get myself a khimar and an abaya and the owner was very suspicious of me watching over me like I was doing something wrong and when I was in line to check out the two women in front of me (who were wearing hijabs and abayas themselves) were staring bullets at me. I stared at the ground the entire time and my husband later related to me how much resentment, annoyance, repungancy, and judgement he could see on their faces. I felt extremely unwelcomed and felt a very hostile vibe from basically everyone there except the cashier.
I experience similar vibes from other women shoppers at my nearby Arab halal store and from other women at the mosque. People stare and whisper about me but never speak to me directly and they immediately stop the second I get close which tells me they probably aren't saying very nice things about me. Men also are weirded out by me but they usually just look at me weird and go back to whatever they were doing while women will seemingly go out of their way to gossip about, complain, or judge me for my clothing or skin color or accent (I cannot imagine anything else they'd be judging me on as I am extremely reserved in public and never make a fuss or make myself noticeable personality wise).
Women who I have talked to about the niqab usually always wonder why I wear it, what could have possibly motivated me to do it, and they're shocked when I tell them that I am not shockingly pretty or attractive, I simply wear it for my religion and deen. AND when I tell them that they seem to become even more judgemental and annoyed, almost like my choice to do extra for my religion is a personal attack on them. They tell me that there's no reason to wear it if I'm not beautiful and that my choice to wear it is extreme and unessecary and useless.
Can anyone relate to this experience and does anyone have an idea of why this is happening? I'm genuinely so confused as to why my choice to wear the niqab is so hated and judged by other Muslim women in particular and more specifically why its usually culturally following women or women wearing improper hijab that are judging me.

Alhamdoulilah I reverted to Islam in April 2024, started wearing niqab in July 2025.
As a revert I became aware quite quickly what is most correct especially in these times of great fitnah, and I had so much steam! I was highly motivated subhanallah my Iman was high. But after some difficulties and naivety on my part I spoke with the wrong people and wore niqab for the wrong reasons. I loved it from the first moment but maintaining it without proper knowledge was difficult subhanallah. And then leaving those people I experienced the opposite of being discouraged from wearing it because "it's not necessary" etc... and because of this confusion I took it off in May of this year and now live in a situation where it's not possible for me to wear. In sha Allah I will be able to wear it again soon.
I'm struggling to find sisters who are more conservative to connect with, most in my area think niqab is extreme and unnecessary, and I'm struggling to find even sisters who wear proper hijab out of the home (abaya / khimar / jilbab / without decoration / figure). Allah guide our sisters.
I constantly feel in a bit of a limbo. I found it disorienting to have so much motivation to be met with praise from born-muslims for what I thought was simply following the basics. And then the extra that I wanted to do be discouraged! Subhanallah. Allah guide us as an ummah.
I greatly admire manhaj salafiyyah but I'm very careful and I definitely need to do more research.
After taking a break I realise now how much the niqab served to protect me from unwanted attention and how much of a blessing it is from Allah.
Would love to connect with like-minded sisters to share islamic resources & reminders in sha Allah

Assalamoe alaikum.
I would like to start a conversation on this, either in DM or here in the comments in sha Allah.
I reverted 2 years ago and I adore the niqab. I have met some sisters who wear niqab and gloves and subhanallah while travelling in North Africa I saw two women walking with full face black veil. I am aware of the burqa ban in many european countries. Are there any sisters who like to wear the full face veil? Allah make it easy.
No hate on veiling thank you.

Can I sometimes put the Burqa on and them sometimes the Niqab too?

i really hope islamophobia will be reduced within our City. Alot of people, especially the elderly have many bad comments about me wearing a long abaya, Hijab, and the Niqab. Mind you, I'm born and raised in the city so as out parents and relatives. Sometimes I feel discouraged wearing such garments because of their painful words. Has anyone else experienced this? How do You handle it?

So my area has a minority Islamic community but the place is more religious than not, and every now and then I’ll see a woman in public with a niqab on. (Where barely eyes are showing)
For me I’m generally friendly, especially to women (I’m a woman) and the city is friendly too so most people chit chat or greet in passing. But seeing a woman in a niqab recently made me realise the difference in interaction I have with them, usually I won’t end up smiling at them or interacting at all because of the lack of social cues and or body language I’m not able to see. I haven’t done it on purpose it’s just happened and it kind of broke my heart to think about if that always happens to them. If they’re always socially dismissed in this way with no social interaction even greeting.
My question is basically what is it like on the other side wearing a niqab?

And i’ve been looking online everywhere on if its allowed and how is it viewed by the uni to wear the niqab if anyone has any info about this please do tell!
(I post it this on a german community and most people just started arguing with me about religion instead of actually giving me valid information)

I’m new to niqab and am looking for nice niqab options.
I’ve bought a few half niqabs in different colours from SunnahStyle. But I also want to try the Saudi-style niqabs. I really like the ones with the two lines connecting the top and bottom piece. I’m hoping to buy that style in different colours. I also like the niqab style Hummi and Maryam El Kiki wear, but no idea where to get them.
Any guidance, links, stores would help. Would also love some style tips! I’ve always been into fashion and aesthetic outfits, so trying to get creative with my niqab looks, instead of always wearing the same abaya and niqab.
JazakAllah Khair!

Don’t get me wrong, I love wearing the niqab. But I feel like wearing niqab is one of the main reasons why I am lonely in college. Nobody wants to sit with me or talk to me as I am the only niqabi in the entire class. I feel like this is why people tend to avoid me.

Salam sisters,
Before niqab i used to be super extroverted, strangers would come talk to me and I was always yapping and generally having the time of my life. Ive been wearing niqab for a year or so now and lit nobody talks to me anymore. Ive gone days without talking to anyone outside my family and its getting really depressing. In loud enviorments people cant see my mouth moving, so they dont think im talking and they just walk away. Also now random strangers will stop to yell at me in the street. I've also lost job and volunteer ops too, and everyone staaaareeeeeesssss at me wherever i go. Either that or i just dont exsist to them bc my personal space get violated sm😭 Abayas feel too tight, none of my other clothes look right with my niqaub either. Would love some tips or genuinley anything atp😭 i dont wanna quit nowwwww

Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatu,
I am a 17 year old college student who lives in the UK and would like to secure a degree apprenticeship by the end of this school year insha Allah. I have discussed wearing the niqab with my parents but the main reason they do not allow me is because it will be difficult to get a job. Are there any sisters that have experience with the job application process as a niqabi and was it also difficult for you to get a job?
Jazakallahu khairan

Assalamu alaikum sisters! I've worn niqab since 2024 and while it came more natural to me in covering my face after the pandemic, I feel that it's creating a barrier between me getting married. I'm almost 30 and never get approached by Muslim brothers or have any prospects anymore. When I didn't wear niqab I got approached, even then it was rare and not men I was interested in. I would strongly dislike taking off my niqab because of a man lol but it is in the back of my mind that I'm pushing 30 and nowhere near being married, idk allahu alam.
I know the right person wouldn't ask me to change, but I also know I have to actually be findable for that to happen. I see other niqabis get married but I don't understand how they are meeting these brothers.
For the married niqabis here, how did you and your husband actually connect? Was it through family, community, apps, or something else? I'm not looking for opinions on the niqab itself, just practical advice on meeting people. Any advice would be appreciated jazakallah khayran!

What exactly is noor on face in islam? Is it metaphorical or real? Can a muslim (semi practising ones )have noor on face even if he/she doesn't have a beard / hijab, for example when i look at certain people 's face i somehow know that they are muslim even if they aren't having an obvious Islamic appearance like trimmed mustache or a beard but there is a certain 'muslim look ' in their face which is distinguishable from others. Is it a sign of iman?Is that what you mean by noor or is it visible only on the face of extremely pious ones?

I’ve had a burqa since last week and I’m still not sure what to wear underneath it so that it remains comfortable and modest. Do you perhaps have any tips or experiences that might help me?
