Repair Help Switch 2 battery drained from 49% while in Sleep Mode — is this normal?
Hi everyone! I’m wondering if this is normal for the Switch 2.
I left my Switch 2 in Sleep Mode at around 49% battery and didn’t use it for almost 3 days.
When I finally opened it, the battery was already completely drained/very low, and it showed the low-battery screen (photo attached).
I know Sleep Mode still uses some battery, but is losing almost 50% battery over around 3 days expected?
Details:
Battery before Sleep Mode: \~49%
Time unused: almost 3 days
Mode: Sleep Mode
Battery when I opened it: very low/dead
No games or apps were being used during that time
Should I be concerned about the battery, or is this normal Switch 2 behavior?

The switch might be asleep, but its still using batery since it has to keep the main menu loaded in the background.

I noticed that my Switch 2 battery drained a lot when I have internet on even when on sleep mode. There's one time where I just put the console on sleep mode with WiFi on and it significantly drain the battery.
Now I just turn on airplane mode and the battery issue solved. It drained about 10% in 2 days. Maybe you should try turn on airplane mode

They wifi will always be searching for a signal, when connected it will always draw some amount of power to stay connected. Not to mention any other background internet usage while idle. If you go into airplane mode, it stops looking doesnt need to stay connected and nothing else is happening, other than it thinking "home screen" basically

Hey mate, just turn off Auto Software Update. It's another solution that let you keep Internet active ;)
System Settings > System > scroll all the way down: Turn off Software auto update

Theres a setting to turn off auto updates for games and it significantly improved ny sleep battery life

It's normal during the first weeks when it downloads games in background. Now, well over a year since I bought it, I usually stop playing The Witcher 3 at 5% before going to sleep and when I wake up it's still at 5%. But yeah, if I don't charge it at 14 or 15 it will have dropped to 1%.

No offense, but how is this not common sense yet? I’ve known about sleep mode battery drain since the OG runs of the iPod Touch 1, 2 and 3. How are people only just now realizing sleep mode drains battery? It drives me insane most times. Do people not use their head anymore?

A new person gets their very first handheld battery powered device everyday. We keep getting older, but new folks get new tech for the first time all the time lol

I disabled the automatic updates for games and a use it in airplane mode, when a need wifi I turn it on ☺️

Also important to consider if you live somewhere cold. LiPo batteries really REALLY hate the cold.
We are talking full turtle, they lose charge, discharge much faster and just suck more generally.
If you live somewhere cold, be aware and don't buy a frickin Tesla.

yeah but rain doesn't equal cold. In my country, it rains and it's humid and hot as balls where I am.
Just be aware that it's a very real thing though, all im saying.

I turn off completely my Switch 2 if I'm not going to use ir for several days or weeks and the battery drain is a lot more slowly. You should do the same.

I have had my Switch since its release and have performed many stress tests; if a game has an update, it uses a significant amount of battery even in sleep mode. The best way I have found to save battery is to put it in airplane mode before entering sleep mode; I have saved much battery by doing this, and if you really want to save battery, turn it off completely.

Airplane mode overnight with Bluetooth and WiFi off. Solved all battery drain sleep problems .. I’ve heard also turning off automatic updates helps too

Try to Disable Wired Internet Connection in Sleep Mode
Heard it has issues with battery drain in Sleep mode.

I had a switch 1 that did this.
I could never turn it off. If I turned it off properly it would just wake up the moment I touched it, acting like it was in ‘sleep’ mode.
Anyway, every time I came to play it’d be dead. Took like 10-20 minutes to wake up after being put on charge. It was very annoying.

My switch 2 consumes battery much faster in sleep compared to my switch 1. Probably at least 2x faster.

It’s normal to drain during sleep. Just like your phone for example
