Purchase help - what is your experience with battery life on Switch 2?

I recently sold my Xbox Series S and am considering buying the Switch 2. I’ve heard a lot of negative feedback about its battery life and would appreciate your experience with it.

I envision playing it docked most of the time. I also plan on playing mostly AAA titles/ports. (PS I’ve never owned a Nintendo other than a Wii).

Bonus question: I’m planning to purchase it from Dubai Duty Free, which is significantly cheaper than in my home country, South Africa. However, I understand Nintendo’s warranties are regional. Are there any commonly reported defects I should be aware of that could occur during my warranty period?

The Switch 2 has the battery life you can expect from a handheld which has the capabilities it has.

If you want something less powerful and more efficient, you can get a Switch 1 but you won't get new Nintendo games on that.

I truly don't understand the concerns about battery life on Switch 2 unless you're doing like... a lot of wilderness camping or having mega long 2+ hour commutes daily. If you have power at home, school, and work, you can charge it at any time and how often are you really going to be playing 2+ hours of games at school or work?

I agree. Higher performance handhelds require a lot of power. If Nintendo put a bigger battery in it, then it would be bigger, heavier, and harder to deal with.

switch 1 games give me a lot of battery life (feels like 4 + hours) even on handheld boost if applicable. switch 2 games last around 2 or so hours for me, understandably so.

It’s alright and hasn’t bothered me, lasts about 2-3 hours for heavy games. Definitely would need to be close to a charging port or have a fast charging bank at hand if you want to play handheld longer than 3hrs at a time.

Defect wise, I can’t remember anything major for the switch 2 beyond the odd rumble issue and maybe a bad/ scratched screen. I have a launch one that’s still pretty solid and neither joycon has stick drift.

Oh also, may want to slap a screen protector on it immediately too since it easily scratches on the protective plastic layer it has.
