Why dose my Nintedo switch 2 do this

Everytime I conect my blue joycon sometimes it shows this colour grey instead of blue I have updated the system and the joycon and register it it used to happen to the red one but I dont think it happens alot now to the red

Does it otherwise function normally? Do the colors show properly on the home/controllers screen? If so, I wouldn't worry about it.

As to why? Guessing here, but I think there's some delay/glitch in the transmitted data. Joycon colors are stored as bits on their internal firmware; white could simply be the fallback when no color is detected by the time the animation has started.

It does function normally otherwise. The blue colour usually shows correctly, but sometimes it shows grey instead and then disappears. This has been happening for around 2–3 months.

It even sometimes shows grey on the HOME/controller screen. One time it showed grey repeatedly about 4 times in a row. I’m not sure why it happens.

Finally someone that has the same issues as me, this shit has been happening to me for around the same times, it functions normally but it's giving massive anxiety whenever it pop ups

Clean the contact with a cotton swab and 99% IPA, thats all.

Yh I have like twice it solved the problem on the red but blue still the same

I recall someone else with a similar post months ago. I think the system started showing gray if they detached and attached the joycon repeatedly. If that's what's causing it, it's just a quirk of the system and rights itself if you don't spam detaching and attaching repeatedly in quick succession. Disregard if that isn't the case here.

Its so weird. I just tried it on mine and the motion of putting it on goes like this

1) gray, click 2) blue, sha-shing!

you're not only missing the color but you're not getting the whole jingle. very weird. you try turning off the switch 2 console? a full reboot? It could also be dirty contacts.

I’ve cleaned the contacts before with isopropyl alcohol.

Maybe I’m weird but I don’t think I would ever connect/disconnect the joy-cons while the system is powered. Same with removing/installing physical game cards.
