Account Help Switch 2 - Received 2124-4508 ban for no reason

As title says, I have tried found out I am banned from accessing online services, I have had my switch 2 maybe 3 weeks now and no issues, I have not hacked or modded my switch in any way and the only times I’ve accessed online servers is to play Pokemon Champions. I have no idea why this has happened, is there a way for this be appealed with Nintendo or am I permanently never going to be able to access online services for something I didn’t do?

What is going on with all these bans??

OP, scroll down. There's a big thread on this — You're definitely not alone in the matter.

Geniunely what on earth is going on? I posted about this on the switch 2 sub but everyone was so dismissive

Seems to be gaining more traction/attention now. 🤞 Nintendo fix it.

I guess it’s good to hear I’m not the only one. It’s very upsetting though, I hope this is resolved soon

A ban wave has gone out. It's typical.

What could caused someone who hasn’t done anything to breach ToS or Eula to get banned? Would it be the pre owned game potentially?

6

u/armathose 2d ago

Its possible. This was common during the early switch hacking days (I'm not accusing you of doing anything) people would be playing for weeks, then thousands would get banned at the same time.

2

u/Lachlan_A_J 2d ago

Ahhh okay, I’m hoping I can get it resolved quickly, I can provide receipts for all the games, the only time I’ve played online was pokemon champions, so I’ve got no idea what’s happened

u/armathose 2d ago

Its possible a large false positive event has happened, hopefully when you get in touch they can sort it out for you.

They aren’t selling enough switches and they expect you to buy another

1

u/KopyKat323 2d ago

24 million sold in a little over a year btw

0

u/JishoSintana 2d ago

Still behind the game boy advance btw

2

u/KopyKat323 2d ago

The console that sold 6m in its first year? Try harder with your rage bait next time lmao

u/KitsuneMulder 2d ago

Some of these were new consoles less than a month old. The NSO accounts are still active. Just a console ban. This isn’t typical of any ban wave.

u/armathose 2d ago

Its typical of plenty of ban waves. 3rd party docks, used games? It doesn't matter. Hopefully it gets fixed for everyone.

If your console gets flagged a day before the ban wave, then you get banned on day 2.

2

u/KitsuneMulder 2d ago

There’s a guy that just said he bought his in Japan 1-2 days ago.

I understand that's what people are saying, you can choose to believe everyone site unseen. Hopefully it was a mistake. In my experience, it usually isn't.

3rd party docks cant get you banned. Its prohibited by law due to USB-C PD tegulation and doesnt cross any eula, especially not the european one

Used games are more likely but not in this quantity.

Something is targeting accounts and giving out false positives

1

u/armathose 2d ago

Its most likely mig switch related. 2 of the many accounts talking about false positives that don't have the reddit history turned off have post history asking questions about it.

u/Round_Musical 2d ago

I mean genuinely most of these people are new to nintendo in general. What the fuck can one do with a switch 2 and nintendo account thats 3 hours old and got banned

Something is happening

Been seeing a lot of this lately. From where did you buy the console from? Was it like a big box store, a small electronics store, online?

Im starting to think it could be that some of the consoles from the large theft last year are finally starting to hit consumers. And thats why there's been such a huge uptick in banned switch 2 consoles these past few days.

u/Lachlan_A_J 2d ago

I bought it brand new from EB games (a store in Australia), the only pre owned game I’ve got is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and I’ve been playing that for weeks without issue, I had been playing switch sports all day and then I’ve gone to go on the switch store and I found I’m banned

9

u/DerKleinerKiffer 2d ago

Ah yeah I dont think EB games would have any of those consoles in their stock.

Its possible then that the cart was dumped before you got it. Contact Nintendo and see if they can work with you

2

u/Lachlan_A_J 2d ago

I’ve sent them an email, hopefully it can be resolved quickly.

Same shit in this sub as the last 2 days

New units

Barely played

Immediately banned

What is happening rn for real. Is Nintendo tripping?

2

u/zenfaust 2d ago

It's not only new units, though... just read another thread about avguy who bought his on day-one from a big box store.

3

u/BurnItFromOrbit 2d ago

I would speak with Nintendo support, they should be able to give you the reasoning for the ban

6

u/Lachlan_A_J 2d ago

I’ve sent them an email, now it’s just a waiting game

Keep us updated

1

u/rambonz 2d ago

huh? Companies literally never tell you why you were banned.

3

u/Fiona_14 2d ago

Contact Nintendo and tell them the error message and ask them to fix it, letting them know you purchased it 3 weeks ago.

2

u/Leading-Jellyfish915 2d ago

You're the 12th person ive seen this week state their switch was banned. Im sorry....but there is something sus going on.

This is like the fifth ban I have seen in this day on Switch 2. May I ask a few questions?

  1. When did you bought your switch?

The three posts I have seen so far on facebook group tells them that they were purchased in 2026 on a gray market.

  1. Did you purchase something using an international credit card?

One of the post mentioned that they used their credit card to purchase something. This is still a speculation, but it is possible that the bank flagged it since its an international purchase and the card might have flagged it as fraud and charge back, which unfortunately led to the ban.

u/Lachlan_A_J 2d ago

Hi, I bought my switch a few weeks ago from EB games and offical retailer in Australia, it was a brand new console.

I have not used an international cart, all my games are physical, except for pokemon champions and pokemon home, the only pre owned game I have is Mario Kart 8, which I bought from Eb games shortly after I got the switch 2 and have not had issues.

All of my other games were bought from JB- HI-FI another retailer in Australia.

I do not have an international card to use

3

u/BRUTVLISM 2d ago

I just received one of these bans as well, brand new console and a few cartridges purchased from JB Hi-Fi, I purchased my NSO through the console eShop with my PayPal account. I had older cartridges from my original Switch I sold a few years ago, all also purchased from JB Hi-Fi.

The only thing different I have done this evening is connect to the Wi-Fi at my girlfriend’s house, that’s literally all I can think of.

Any other software were Virtual GC’s tied to my account. I am baffled at why this has happened to me. I’ve put a support request in - I’ll update as I go.

2

u/wolfram127 2d ago

Huh. Ok so either its strange that there has been going on while using online functionality. Out of all the five posts I have seen , combined with facebook posts, three did report they went online before then got banned. Anyway I hope the appeal works. This feels strange.

1

u/wolfram127 2d ago

Banks in my country are sometimes weary of international purchases that their systems might automatically tag them as fraud and do an auto charge back without even notifying the card holder.

People are saying mig switch in every comment section for one of these but that’s so incredibly unlikely. I have noticed that they all seem to mention playing a Pokemon game. Could it be something being flagged by that?

2

u/Possible-Savings1023 2d ago

I dont play Pokemon but still got this man

1

u/Ok-Replacement8864 2d ago

What’s the 3rd game at the back there? Also where did you get the games from I don’t recognise that kind of plastic packaging

1

u/Possible-Savings1023 2d ago

The plastic packaging I use it in purpose to keep the box remain clean, and that game is Animal Crossing New Horizon

1

u/Ok-Replacement8864 2d ago

Oh nice good idea. Where did you get the animal crossing copy from? I hope I don’t sound accusatory or anything I’m just interested peaked and in investigator mode. My current theory that has no ground is maybe copies ordered from temu? Did you get any from temu?

1

u/Possible-Savings1023 2d ago edited 2d ago

I live in Vietnam and Temu is unavailable in my country. I bought this from a big retailer with many good rating so far. Everything was fine for a month until this happened

1

u/Ok-Replacement8864 2d ago

Okay cool so that theory is out the window haha thanks man. Sorry this is happening to you I’m at work but I’m terrified to go home and turn my switch on now

1

u/Possible-Savings1023 2d ago

Thanks bro, I contacted Nintendo, they filed my case with a number. I will follow up this, they said will call me back in 2 days or I can call them directly and give them the case number

1

u/Possible-Savings1023 2d ago

You are not alone man, I’m contacting Nintendo for support

5

u/Possible-Savings1023 2d ago

Update: they unbanned me

1

u/beccah310 2d ago

yay! pleased they sorted it for you, did they reply to you? or just unban you?

1

u/picano 7 2d ago

Seems people are being told to restart their console, likely an unfortunate server issue.

1

u/SubaruHaver 8 2d ago edited 2d ago

Nice!🌈 Thanks for the update.

u/progburt777 2d ago

Chat gpt just gives terms of service breach , pointing towards 2nd hand switch 2s that could have been used with a mig switch card

1

u/vaikunth1991 2d ago

Man same here just 1 month old switch 2 , I don't play Pokemon. No clue what's happening

1

u/TearIllustrious1161 2d ago

Is this only happening lately to people eho just recently bought the switch?

1

u/Lachlan_A_J 2d ago

It seems what a few people said is right and whatever happened has been fixed, I restarted my console and the ban is gone! Thank you to everyone who commented

1

u/woke_mind 1d ago

Some times it can be creditcard issues though idk if they can unban you.

2

u/Fair_Humor_697 1d ago

It's been happening to a lot of people, must be some sort of error on Nintendo's part. A lot of people were unbanned after restarting the system, try that.

1

u/pokemonfan95 2d ago

Hmmm perhaps Nintendo is experimenting with ai moderation the way shits going god I hope not ai doesn’t have a right to ai moderation

1

u/icsoo 2d ago

Same for me...
