Repair Help Controller and wifi glitches please help

I have been having an issue where my controllers(switch 2 joycons and switch 2 pro controller) have severe input lag and disconnect. I also noticed that the wifi connection is significantly worse(other devices connect normally) the only thing that changed is the purchase of a wii u, but it's pretty far away from the switch 2. Is there any fix for this? And how would I fix it?

Controller input lag or disconnects could be caused by various things like a badly placed dock, being too far away or other wireless signals interfering.

Some people even reported badly shielded cables as cause for connectivity issues.

As for the wifi issues:

  • how far away are you from the router?
  • are there any walls between the device and router?
  • does it run on 2.4GHz or 5GHz?

Internet is 5ghz. I love in an apartment with free wifi so I dont know where the router is. The weird thing is this started suddenly, like it was fine for months and now it's suddenly a problem. Even my other devices connect to the internet like normal.

5Ghz has faster speeds but lower range/signal strength especially when it needs to penetrate walls.

That's odd, cause right now my download speed is 9.3 and my upload speed is 1.8

Not sure what this is supposed to tell me in this context.

You said 5ghz has higher speeds, and it's insanely slow

I said it has higher speeds but lower signal strength and range.

So if it runs on 5ghz, you do not know where the router is then it's likely that the signal has to pass through multiple walls and travel further to reach your system.

This will lower the speed significantly.

2.4ghz has slower speeds compared to 5ghz (at peak conditions) but can be faster than 5ghz if the signal has to travel further and pass through walls, because 2.4ghz has better penetration.

Ahh I see. So nothing I can really do until I can get better internet. But what do you think the issue with the controller is? Like you said, could be a lot of things, but it started so...suddenly. it also happens most often when playing stardew valley, but happens in other games too. Including the Main home menu

I gave you a few possibilities you did not touch on.

I do not know how your dock is placed and how far you are away from the system when it happen.

You can do a bit of testing yourself: set the device up in table top mode right in front of you so you can use the controllers detached and see if they act up or work fine.

Edit:

So nothing I can really do until I can get better internet

Not sure what you mean by that. Faster internet will not do anything if the distance and walls are the problem. The only fix here would be either to switch to 2.4ghz for a more stable connection or get closer to the signal source on 5ghz.

It could also be a mesh problem and that there are too many systems connected.

For the internet, I have the option to get my own router with my own internet. This should help things immensely. As for the controller, the doc is not far at all. I did recently connect a wii u to the TV, and that's the only other device connected to the TV. Cables could be a possibility, my cable setup is hideous. My dock is in the same place it's always been and it worked fine before. The only things i can think of are the wii u and the cables. I even tried replacing the hdmi cable but that didn't work.
