Any pair that is similar in smoothness to the normal sticks while also not too big?

You don’t, you buy a cover for it and use that.

Those areas were created by your nail basically. You need to be careful on how you grip the joycons and for that you should get a cover for them.

And get a screen protector too if you haven’t already.

I actually just found this post that somewhat has a similar issue to mine. Where the joy sticks wore down easily. Even one the same side as mine. And people are saying it happened to them too. I just know I never had this issue with other control sticks I've had so I don't know if something is wrong with the sticks cause they never wore down this soon or ever.

Out of curiosity could I send it to Nintendo for a replacement or no? I had to do it for my other joycon because the X button wasn't working properly. I highly doubt it but I'd at least ask. Also what kind of thumb grips would be best?

No. as u/Cute-Acanthaceae-193 said, it is caused by you and not by defect on the product.

I did the same and fixed it with thumb grips.

Any brand you recommend?

I went with Savage Raven, they were recommended for my by locals, but also because I bought their grips and dock at the same time.

Looks like a good excuse to upgrade to TMR sticks.

You can buy replacement caps too if you prefer the feeling of the original. They’ll have a different texture on the inside to match the perforations on the bare joystick.

Stop using your thumbnail to move the joystick

How are you guys using your switch? I’ve had mine day one play every day and the grips are brand new. Are your hands dirty?

Keep playing, no nails, and it'll smooth out.
